k.p Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Hi all, I have a friend who just had a hair transplant done in Turkey 4 days ago. As you can see in the pictures, there are some yellow pus around some of the grafts. His doctor just advised him to apply Fucidin for 3 days. I have a few questions that I would really appreciate some feedback to: 1. Can this cause graft loss? 2. Given that Fucidin is not available in the U.S., does anyone know of an equivalent cream? 3. Has anybody else dealt with infection? 4. If any expert is reading this, between scale of 1 to 10, how bad is his infection? I told him to visit a local dermatologist tomorrow. But I just want to gain more information for him since he is very concerned. Thanks a lot!
Dr Blake Bloxham Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 KP, I would advise your friend to immediately be seen by a doctor in-person. While some redness and scabbing/flaking around the grafts post-transplant is normal, there are a few concerning things here: There appears to be a red, swollen, defined area around those small wounds. It looks like it may be somewhat tender and warm to the touch as well. If the entire scalp looked this inflamed, I'd probably think less of it. But the definition of the area and the fact that those small wounds are in the center of it makes it more likely that it could be infection. This isn't something to wait on.
