huascar30 Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Greetings All - I was wondering if I could get your expertise in regards to my recent transplant. I had a 2730 grafts transplant to cover a decent area. I think I will need another FUT at some point to get more density. The good news is that my surgeon classified my donor are as being 8 out of 10 (pictures attached). I can see transplanted hair growing very fast in just a week, however, it is my understanding that I will shed them. In short, can you please provide my with your assessment of my condition? Thank you in advance, HL
Senior Member hsrp10 Posted January 11, 2018 Senior Member Posted January 11, 2018 Copy and paste from your other thread: Bit late now of course, but the preferred approach would have been to do the 2,800 grafts in the hairline and frontal third. Then the rest of the area and crown in a second surgery. My assessment is too many grafts over an extensive area and the grafts themselves have huge gaps in terms of placement. Who was the surgeon? Doesn't look like the work of an elite top surgeon. For your second surgery spend a few months on this forum to choose one with outstanding results. huascar30 Posted January 11, 2018 Author Posted January 11, 2018 The name of the Surgeon is Dr. Adam Tattelbaum at the Washing Medical Hair Clinic (link below). But he was not the one placing all the grafts. Two of his techs did the work. Is that the norm? Hair Restoration For Men | Hair Transplant Washington DC | Washington Medical Hair Clinics
Senior Member hsrp10 Posted January 11, 2018 Senior Member Posted January 11, 2018 Techs implanting the grafts is sometimes the norm. I have never heard of this surgeon and clinic. huascar30 Posted January 11, 2018 Author Posted January 11, 2018 Lack of experience. I looked in Washington-DC and opted for this clinic. I think I messed up. The price was not horrible - 6200 for 2800 grafts. Nevertheless, even though I agree with you that it is too sparse, I noticed a lot of the implanted hair growing rapidly. As for coverage and density, I am being real here but let's give it time. I regret stopping rogain. It accelerated the hair loss. I work for the government and was assigned to Afghanistan and simply got tired of dealing with the formula twice a day. I am also on testosterone replacement which doesn't help. I started propetia and rogain, let see it that also help. I read it have to wait a year to have another one. If you don't mind me asking, what leads you to believe it was sloppy?

Senior Member hsrp10 Posted January 11, 2018 Senior Member Posted January 11, 2018 I think we've all been there before. Stick around this site and search for the elite or higher recommended docs in the US and plan for round 2 while the current grafts grow in. Konior (Chicago), Rahal (Toronto) and Bloxham (NY area) for example are a short flight away, and there is even a recommend surgeon on here in the Virginia area, Dr. Lindsey. When we talk about thick and natural hair restoration we usually mention something called "dense packing" performed by an elite surgeon with proven results. You can search for cases from the above mentioned docs on this site to see what I mean. Search for Rahal dense packing in the search function on this sight for example. You'll get an idea of what I mean. Here's an example from Ernie's case: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/attachment.php?attachmentid=90809&d=1456258465 There are usually no major spaces in between the graft placement, while with the work work your doc did I can clearly see largish patches of scalp. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/attachment.php?attachmentid=116974&d=1515641562 This will lead to a sparse result when it grows in. It could provide you with some modest coverage if you let it grow long and then comb it forward. If you are serious about getting your hair back search the top surgeons on here, since you went with FUT the first time a second FUT would not be such a bad idea and not all that expensive. go dense or go home Unbiased advice and opinions based on 25 plus years of researching and actual experience with hair loss, hair restoration via both FUT & FUE, SMP, scalp issues including scalp eczema & seborrheic dermatitis and many others HSRP10's favorite FUT surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr Hasson, Dr. Rahal HSRP10's favorite FUE surgeons: *Dr. Konior, *Dr. Bisanga, Dr. Erdogan, Dr. Couto (*indicates actual experience with doctor)
huascar30 Posted January 11, 2018 Author Posted January 11, 2018 Good points. I will express my dissatisfaction to the surgeon when I go for stitches removed. Looking ato the positive, at least I have some hair on the scalp even if they are not compacted. I will set up an appointment with Dr. Lindsay to get his opinion about my situation. He is about a 30 minutes drive. I meant to ask you, if the transplanted hair has grown in the first 10 days, does it mean it may not shed or it doesn't tell you anything?
