safdas Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I had a transplant recently and the hairs seem to lay perpendicular to my scalp, the angle doesn’t seem to match my native hairs . Does it take time to soften up or is what I’m seeing right now ( 1 month post op) the same angle it will be in the future ?
Senior Member Transhair Posted December 31, 2017 Senior Member Posted December 31, 2017 At 1 month post op most of those hairs are probably just dangling on and are about to fall out. From what I've seen hair transplants usually grow more upwards compared to normal hair.
Regular Member bloodshoteyes Posted December 31, 2017 Regular Member Posted December 31, 2017 I noticed this after my operation, but when the hair gets longer it lays flat. They did in my case anyway.
safdas Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 how many months did it take for your hairs to soften up, lay flat ?

Senior Member gillenator Posted January 2, 2018 Senior Member Posted January 2, 2018 You may want to ask your surgeon if he had reason to do some acute angulating of your grafts. Sometimes that is done when donor is limited and the area needing restoration is large. Some docs feel that you can gain more visual coverage with acute angulation techniques. Regular Member bloodshoteyes Posted January 2, 2018 Regular Member Posted January 2, 2018 how many months did it take for your hairs to soften up, lay flat ? I shed the transplanted hairs and have not really noticed the same phenomena when they grew back? I think gillenator is correct the acute angle could add to the shingling effect giving maximum visual coverage with said grafts.
