time2grow Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Hi community, I've trawled through the forum posts since 2012, when I had my last FUT HT. I'm back again, as I'm at a point where I seem to have lost more hair, with other hair becoming very short and thin. I'm no longer happy or able to 'fake' my hairstyle, and dating is a nightmare; not being able let anyone run their fingers through my hair, making lame excuses, avoiding being in water. Being aware of people trying not to be obvious that they're looking at my hair. Even some cruel people at work slipping out the odd "lego head" "wig" joke. Anyway, I now aim to have another FUT, and would like some honest, experienced, patient reviews and advice on the following, shortlisted surgeons: Dorin & True, Hasson & Wong, Dr Feller. My details to date are as follows, with current pics taken today attached: 1st FUT 2005, age 29. London, UK, around 1000 grafts - results where pretty poor, with simple hairline requiring further FUTs, which I accepted. 2nd FUT 2009, age 33. London, UK (different dr), around 1500 grafts - again poor results, with slightly increased hairline and depth, but not much. 3rd FUT 2012, age 36. Ottawa, Canada, Dr Rahal. 2800 grafts. Pretty good results, stronger hairline, frontal area more dense. Some tempal density, satisfactory on the right side only. I've been on finestaride since 2005, I did have some labido issues at first which eventual diminished. I started on Rogain foam 2 months ago, I'm waiting a few more months before I judge results of that. Note, my recent thinning was before I started on the Rogain, as I know it can cause initial shedding. So I'm now considering my 4th FUT, to hopefully complete the job of a decent head of hair I can let people touch, and cut short. Any recommendations on suregeons, in addition to all my research would be very welcome before I take the plunge. I'm aiming for early next year. Thanks
Regular Member shyshiny Posted November 2, 2017 Regular Member Posted November 2, 2017 International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery for Hair Loss and Baldness This is the international hair restoration society. I suggest you check out the surgeon list as they are dedicated hair surgeons and not plastic surgeons with a license to carry out hair transplants. Hope this helps.
Senior Member UKLad81 Posted November 2, 2017 Senior Member Posted November 2, 2017 Sorry to hear of your experiences. H&W have great reputations as does Feller. Not done any research on the other so can't comment. I would also consider Cooley and Gabel. They both have a no nonsense approach and have the patients best interests. Book a consult with all and see where you go from there.
Senior Member jjsrader Posted November 2, 2017 Senior Member Posted November 2, 2017 If you have good donor do a consult with H&W - you probably can do another megasession with FUT.
time2grow Posted November 6, 2017 Author Posted November 6, 2017 Thanks everyone for your advice. I've discovered that the recent excessive hair loss is due to a rheumatoid arthritis medication I'm on. I'm hoping the loss will reverse now I've come off the medication. I'm still planning on another HT tho, as it always desired more density and less hassle. Hasson and Wong sound like a good option for a mega session
Senior Member Speegs Posted November 6, 2017 Senior Member Posted November 6, 2017 What prompted you to narrow it down to these few? Good surgeons, but Gabel and Konior should be on that list as well. Hair loss patient and transplant veteran. Once a Norwood 3A. Received 2,700 grafts with coalition doctor on 8/13/2010 Received 2,380 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 9/30/2011 Received 1,820 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 7/28/2016
