Hey guys

Here's some photos of my first haircut. I got the sided done high at 1# guard to see how the scars look. From what I and my friends can see they are not visible! Only the few I had prior to surgery. I'm really happy with the donor area and the fact I can cut it to a 1# guard without any noticeable signs of scaring. Now I'm just patiently waiting for the top to grow in

Hey guys

Here is my 4 month update.

Well I'm very pleased with the change from month 3 to month 4. I've really noticed the new hair growing in during this month. I feel I look much better now and the redness is either better or covered up more by the new hair. I've been going out without a hat on all the time even in pubs and bars. I'm still a little conscious of it as it's not looking how I'd like the final result to look but it's better than it looked before surgery now. The hair is growing in faster on the left side. I can see new hairs coming in all over the recipient area but not loads, like a few per square centimetre. I do hope that the redness will go entirely, I'd like to see the areas that look slightly patchy in the donor area recover. Of course I'd like to see a lot more growth in the recipient area do it fully blends in with the rest of my hair.

It would be nice to know if I'm looking like I'm on track and things are looking good. I'm really happy with the donor scars but still nervous for the final result over all

Hi Rwethereyet,

Thanks for your update. Just re read your post as you are 3 months exactly ahead of me. Your first months experience reflects mine exactly. You seem right on track for month 4. A large proportion of patients usually report the hair really kicking in from here up to month 7. Although I'm sure your happy so far, I bet this time next month - you will report a huge difference. Good luck and happy growing.

Thanks HG1, I hope the hair keeps growing in as fast as it has over the last few weeks. I'll be following you to see how you get on too. Fingers crossed in a couple of months you will be seeing the hair growth kick in.

How did you put a link on the bottom of your comment? I've been trying to figure out how to do that

Hi Rwethereyet,

Tried to work out how I added the link, deleted it and now can't get it back  If I remember it was not straight forward. Can anyone else advise?

Wish I was out of this phase, although knew it would come and I prepared for it. Such a 'kick in the nuts' having a hairline for the first time in 25 years, then 'boom' it's gone

Thanks, hopefully someone else knows.

Yeah it really does suck, I was so happy with my new hair up to the point it fell out. The 2 months or so after that is annoying. I pretty much lived in a hat, it really helped that I was travelling. I didn't care so much as I knew I wouldn't see these people again. It did give me the confidence not to care about talking to people about it, I told loads of fellow travellers and no one seemed to care. They thought it was a good idea and liked the fact I talked about it.

Once it starts growing back in again its so good, I haven't put a hat on once in the last week!

Hi Rwethereyet,

No travelling for me to hide unfortunately :(. Not bothered with a hat so far, not really a hat person. Might as well look like a xxxx without one  ,as look like one with a hat on. I've kept stum about the HT, only 3 people know. My cover story of scalp psoriasis or a allergic reaction seem to have done the trick. My daughters birthday is on 26th Jan, so will be at the three month mark then - hopefully be sign of life on my desolate scalp :D

Hi all

In my first post I promised I'd add in the details from the surgery graft calculator. I can't seem to be able to add it to my first post so I've attached a photo of it here instead

Hi all here's my 5 months update.

I have had more growth this month, it's been strange as I felt like nothing much has happened but then when I look back at the 4 month photos I can see the difference. I'm glad I have been taking photos each month.

I have decided not to cut my hair again till the 6 month mark. The main reason being that I had a lot of work done on the temples and Asmed said no clippers on the the transplanted hair for 6 months.

My new hair looks and feels pretty normal, I'm becoming more happy with the results as time passes but would definitely like to see it thicken up a fair bit.

My scalp is almost back to feeling normal, it's just slightly tingly and a touch numb in the top centre.

Here's my 6 month update. So this month has felt pretty quiet. I've purposely not looked at my previous photos and just tried to get on with life. It's been hard to not look in the mirror and rummage around trying to find out if new hairs are coming through. I find it almost impossible to see any new hairs coming through bar the odd one which makes me feel like I have all the hair I'm going to get. I hope this isn't the case as I'm not yet satisfied with the density. When I compare my 5 to 6 months photos my hair definitely has changed, it's also grown longer so it's difficult to say how much change is due to that or the HT. After this and a message from another member asking for me to pull my hair back I've also decided now is probably a good time to try to photo my hair ruffled up to show it in its worst state. I hope this will help to capture the changes better over the coming months. Other than this I feel pretty good so far, I go out without a hat on without thinking about my hair too much.

I snowboard and before my HT when I took my helmet off my hair looked awful! I used to put a hat on immediately after taking my helmet off, now I can get away with no hat. I also used to find myself looking in mirrors and thinking my hair looks bad (from a thinning balding perspective) now other than it looking occasionally a little thin I only have to worry about it being messy. Fingers crossed for more density over the coming months!

Here are a couple of pictures of my hair 6 months 8 days in. It's my 2nd hair cut since having my transplant. I thought it would be useful to post these as it will be easier to see any changes at 7 months.

I make 6 months today and looks like we’re on the same boat as far as progress. I’ve been told it will thicken up a lot starting now !

I will be following your post goodluck !!

Thanks Tbcruz, I'm hoping it will thicken up a fair bit over the next 4 to 6 months. It will be interesting to see what changes over the coming months.

Good luck to you too and happy growing!

Hi Rwethereyet,

Looking good my friend. Massive change from your Pre Op pictures. You will no doubt see further improvement in density as the hair matures and hopefully more sprouts come through. Months 6 to 9 do Show big improvements in a lot of cases. Hope you see continued growth. Look forward to your next update.

I had huge changes from 5-7 which continued up until around month 9, add a bit more length to that as well and this should be a strong result.

Thanks JeanLDD. I'm probably going to keep it short as it till the 12 month mark as I prefer my hair that way and also I think it will be easier to see the changes over the next 6 months. I'm hoping there is still more new hairs to grow in. I struggle to see any new ones coming through which I find hard at times but I just need to be patient

Hi all

Here is my 7 month update. I think there has been some slight improvement this month but not that much. I'm not really seeing much going on, my hair is still lacking the density i'm hoping for and is still patchy in places, I'm hoping there is still more growth to come but i'm not really seeing it at the moment. Not sure if i'm being impatient or not?
