Head shaver for years considering a system

Hi

I noticed my hair thinning around 24 which considering my dad was completely bald at 19 was pretty good.

I am now 37 and in that time i have gone through phases of shaving it off growing it back but notice it getting more "see through" each time.

I now exclusively wet shave it and have done so for around 8 years. I often dream about having hair and wake up to the sad reality. I believe I am content with it but would love to try a system as I see peoples faces light up when they have it done and wonder if it could be something that could brighten my life.

With this in mind I have been doing some research but to say its a mine field seems an understatement.

Could some members please give me some guidance. on cost and places to try/avoid.

I live in the UK in the west midlands area.

Thankyou in advance for any help.

After researching, you need to make the decision of a hair clinic or DIY.

A hair clinic will be a longer term commitment and at least x4 more expensive than DIY. They do everything which some like, but that takes much of the control and education out of your grasp. You will pay ?450 to ?2k per system and cut in

DIY can be tricky to start, although most DIY places can recommend a salon to help with the cut in. There are plenty of vids to help with DIY now unlike when I started years ago. You will pay between ?220 and ?350 per unit and cut in

There is no quality difference between them as they all come from the far east.

Systems do work - or have for me, but not for everyone. If you take the time to research and be patient it will work.

Thank you for your reply and advice. There is a place not far from me called hough hair I think it is. They said system is around 500 and should last about 9 months and maintenance every 4 to 5 weeks. But also sai could do the sticking down yourself in future. The hard bit is going to be growing it long enough as shaved it for so long and I am sure it will look terrible while growing it out. How long do you think I will need to grow it before could get a system fitted?

Depends on the final style you want. Personally, my hair is 3-4cm when I go for my cut in and I usually have that shortened by the stylish so its blended in. You might get away with 1-2cm

Is the maintenance every 4 to 5 weeks extra?

I pay between ?220 and ?250 per system depending on what I fancy. Then get a London stylist to cut in for ?60. I find then I get 12-months wear so that suits my budget. I DIY at home so no extra and less hassle.

For my first one I prestume best to go somewhere to get it done? Then once happy I could look at Buying them straight from the net? I would be happy to do the maintenance myself. Do you have to find a specific system stylist not a normal hair dresser?

depends on how confident you are, but long term DIY is the only viable solution unless you happy to spend x4

you can go to a regular barber or stylist, but I go to a specialist (works with both regular hair and systems)

I will admit that I am no expert on hair systems however, just like researching hair transplant surgeons, it's crucial that you select a quality system from a quality company, remember that sometimes you get what you pay for and if you try to take shortcuts and spend a significantly reduced amount of money, you may get a pretty low quality system that is hard to take care of and it won't look natural except for maybe the first day you walk out with it.

Best wishes,

Bill
