This is my experience so far with consultations and if I offend any doctors, or expose anything, I am sorry. I am also unwilling to go overseas for a FUE transplant, its surgery, I would feel uncomfortable doing that. I take .5 mg of finastride a day as well as rogaine foam 2x a day. I like to wear my hair short on the sides and back and long on top. I would prefer FUE as I believe it's the most modern advanced type of hair surgery but the difference in before and after pictures for FUE versus FUT sort of concerns me. FUT always looks much better and the hair porn is real. I want to believe FUE can get me those results without the invasive cutting of the back of my head, so I have decided to go for FUE. Now to the tough part. Choosing my Doctor. Konior Pros - Post Op pictures are the best I have ever seen, clean. - Communication top notch right from Dr. - Does all extractions and plants all the graphs with no technician - Best word of mouth reviews on the forums - Manual Punch - Perfectionist - 1 patient per day Cons - 1 Year wait list, and you need to pay $1000 upfront non refundable. - Expensive! Probably $10,000 more for 1800-2100 graphs than any other doctor on this list besides diep. Nearly $10 per graph. - No travel aid - Barely any before and after FUE pictures. It is a little concerning how few examples there really is, and this has been a complaint for years. - Hairlines can look a little underwhelming compared to Rahal, and Diep's results but who knows if those are exceptional results cherry picked from hundreds of cases. Rahal Pros - Cost. With Canadian exchange rate and his deals all the time, You can sometimes get 2500 graphs for $5 a graph. - His successful hairlines look amazing, movie star hair porn. - Travel Aid - Growth guaranteed, tries to fix all none growth cases. (Could also be a con cause our donor areas are precious and it leads to believe efficiency over quality in my opinion) - Can get a quick surgery day, month or 2 wait. Cons - Motorized trumpet punch - Uses a technician for extractions. Not very hands on. - Very salesman like emails from staff. Kind of a turnoff. If you wait the price seems to drop. - Rahal never personally emails you. - Tried to divert me to LA hair Clinic without even telling me, I had to ask who was going to do the surgery 4 emails into the conversation. They use rahals name but Dr Tahsini does the extractions., it’s like a referral system that seems sketchy. - Some of the worst overharvesting pictures I have seen on a few cases, also some cases that had zero growth, or hairs that never grew back. - Post Op pictures look pretty messy. - Multiple patients per day Vories (Haven’t contacted yet could be more Pros/Cons) Pros - Cheap! $4 a graph, can get almost 3 FUE surgeries for the price of 1 of Koniors. - Results on website look good. - Post op pictures don't look too bad. - Learned from best overseas. Cons - Not many good word of mouth reviews but no bad result posts like Rahal. - Some underwhelming cases, diffuse look. Diep (Haven’t contacted yet could be more Pros/Cons) Pros - Good density - Does extractions himself Cons - Hairline design not my favorite (zig zag) - Post Op pictures a little messy with larger holes Hason/Wong (Haven’t contacted yet could be more Pros/Cons) Pros - Hairlines look amazing - They have learned from the best overseas - Recent FUE Results show they can do FUE as good as their FUT - Last to perform FUE but they said they were waiting to perfect it before offering. Cons - Technicians used for extractions Any advice would be much appreciated, I would like to stay under $20,000 for the little loss I have in front, but I want density. What would you do? Well hair transplant is best way to get rid from hair loss or baldness problem. On the other hand FUE hair transplant technique is one of the latest hair transplant technique which is scarless and painless. So go for it. Do your homework and choose the surgeon you're most comfortable with. I'm really glad you're going with FUE. Strip surgery was never an option for me. I just didn't want that linear scar forever. FUT results are very good but I believe FUE results are just as good with no "visible" scarring. Full disclosure.... I'm an advocate for Dr. Vories but its hard to beat the $4-5 per graft price and he does every extraction and every placement of grafts. He has been doing only FUE surgeries for many years and he only does one surgery per day. Also, he was recently the President of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. With the method of Konior (or other clinics like Lupanzula, Keser, Nadimi (student of Konior), Hei.tmann, ...) you are limited to a certain #of grafts / day and per session. Most of them are very conservative too. Lupanzula does a little more / day is my feeling. You have to understand that all clinics have their bad cases. Konior mentioned it himself in here. Senior Member Betterhair Posted July 29, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted July 29, 2018 I opted for FUT and here's why: more density, statistically graft survival better than FUE, maintain thickness in donor region, can opt for FUE later, more precise hair groupings with no papillae damage. my surgeon made every recipient site and yes , techs did plant , however, some techs are the best in the business because that's what they do. The hair transplant industry has become a frenzy leading to both good and horrible clinics so one has to be very careful. Although my surgeon has great reviews and all kinds of awards and qualifications, I will only truly know 8 months from now if I made the right choice. Not to mention it shaved about 5 grand off the price for me. FUE tends to be about 50% more expensive so for a school teacher like that makes a big difference. I felt confident that any possible scar issues could be resolved with a small transplant or SMP procedure, however, my scar seems like it is going to be pencil thin as advertised. I know people on here like to say that money shouldn't matter but that's absolute horseshit; it does. I didn't opt for a cheaper transplant in Turkey because I was afraid if I had an issue it would be difficult to address but I've seen both great and horrible results from people who make this expedition. My techs planted my graphs as well. I think this is normal. The Doctor should extract the grafts and create the recipient sites. The techs dissect and plant the grafts. Techs help expedite the process and I believe a patient should want the grafts implanted as quickly and effectively as possible. This works best with a team. Same here , if I opted for FUE I would have shelled out an additional $6-7000 for same results but probably less density. No scar? I don't wear my hair in that ridiculous style most guys are wearing. Why are these middle aged men wearing teenager haircuts. They look ridiculous. Besides, in a year or two I hear long hair with perms are coming back. My two cents. FWIW... Konior..I met him in person..very hands on his results speak for themselves. An absolute great surgeon!!! He was my second choice in 2012. Rahal...I can understand what you mean about not being very hands on...I think it’s more that he’s “ strictly business “ and the tech doing his extractions is unbelievable. His name is Mike. I would be leery about anyone other than Dr Rahal making my incision sites, and doing my strip harvesting ( if you went that route )...having said all that he was the surgeon I chose in 2012 and I would certainly choose him again...I do AGREE with you...their communication could certainly be better Newhairplease!!
