“Filling it In” 54-Year-Old Man (2401 grafts): Carlos K. Wesley, M.D. (NYC & LA)

This 54-year-old man underwent a follicular unit transplantation (FUT) session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 2401 grafts were placed

The patient’s hair follicles were incubated in platelet rich plasma (PRP) throughout the duration of the procedure. This, combined with an ATP-containing storage solution has been shown to enhance survival of transplanted hairs.

As with all of Dr. Wesley’s patients, he was NOT required to cut his hair for the procedure. As a result, this patient was able to return comfortably to work and social activities within approximately 7-10 days of his procedure.

The patient returned 11 months after his procedure and images of the patient can be seen below together with the images taken one week postoperatively.

Wow, that's an outstanding result for a modest number of grafts. Congratulations to Dr Wesley and his team.

I have a general question which I'd be grateful for an answer to. When results like this are displayed the hair is usually combed back to show the hairline. Do you find the only way to style one's hair is with the hairline combed back and exposed, or can other styles be worn such as combing the hair forward and covering the hair line?

The reason I ask is that I normally comb my hair forward, partly to cover recession, and would rather comb the hair forward after I undergo any surgery. But is hair thick enough for this?

Thank you

Man, at one week post op, that guy shed his grafts super fast. Sure it wasn't one month post op?

Hi, Garethbale.

Here's one of our patients post op styling his hair forward the way he did before the procedure. You can definitely style it forward.
