Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 6, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted May 6, 2017 (edited) I am week away from 5 months. Is this normal growth and on point to be solid outcome? Everybody's input would be appreciated. 2 post op and 2 pics of week before 5 months are included. I cut it short because I don't mind wearing hat for meantime and wanted to keep close eye on growth Edited May 6, 2017 by ussoccerfan1990

Senior Member kramer79 Posted May 8, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted May 8, 2017 Looks good. How is the scar? any pictures of the donor?
Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 8, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 8, 2017 My scar is little bigger but it was 2nd procedure so they dug in to original scar and when I grow hair out it well covered but I'll show it shaved so you can see how it looks. Wish it what smaller but like I said if I grow it out a little it's covered.
Regular Member Dave160 Posted May 8, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted May 8, 2017 Hi, hair line looks great. I'm interested to know why you opted for FUT instead of FUE? Your donor areas look thick and healthy and I would have thought FUE would have been the best option for you.
Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 8, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 8, 2017 I felt fut was affordable and heard the yield was better and because I didn't go to top known doctor I figured fut was better option cause that's probably the surgery he would be better at. FUE is newer and I would need the big bucks for that. Next surgery I do will be FUE though.
Senior Member kramer79 Posted May 8, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted May 8, 2017 How many grafts was the first procedure? Scar looks good too...plus you are maximizing donor potential with he fact that you started with FUT. This way you can keep up with future hair loss for any reason. Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 8, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 8, 2017 First procedure was 1100 grafts and my last procedure almost 5 months ago was just over 2000 grafts. Thanks for your feedback
Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 8, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 8, 2017 I am closing in on 5 months post op. As you can see in pics it's sparse and just starting to look somewhat decent. What you guys think? Should I be in good standing over next few months and more? Senior Member home1212 Posted May 9, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted May 9, 2017 You use the word "sparse" which tells me you were seeking your equivalent density between your native hair and transplanted hairs.. Did you discuss your expectations and density with your surgeon and the fact that you would be wearing your hair so short when it grew in? The fact of the matter is you'll probably never match that density as grafts cannot be packed so tightly as it may compromise their growth. As others have stated the obvious, you should let your hair grow out and you'll probably be happier with the result. Good luck.
Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 9, 2017 Yes I discussed my expectations. I feel my surgeon chose realistic and conservative hairline. And I know it won't look like my native hair. I will let it grow out as previously stated clearly by me. I cut it short to show the authenticity of my scar and didn't mind wearing hat for another month. Thanks for your feedback
Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 11, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 11, 2017 I'm 5 months post op today. Feedback highly wanted. I'm growing out hair now but it still may be a below average result. Not sure yet but I'll be patient but I havnt seen anything sprouting so hope there is more growth to come. My post op pics looked dense but right now I look like anything but dense. Fingers crossed

Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 28, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 28, 2017 Is rogaine thinning my crown? Is this loss normal? I been on rogaine for years and never noticed much thinness. However, I started rogaine extra strength and I'm almost certain it's thinner! Is this temporary? Anybody experience this loss in beginning and then get it back and better? I'm very concerned.
Senior Member rev333 Posted May 29, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted May 29, 2017 looking good even at 5+ months great design yes any change in regimen, including increase strength of minoxidil, can cause a bit of a shed. this will return. Plus could be a little shock from the surgery that put some follicles into sleep mode.(yes this is possible even though the HT was at the front). This will return as well Congrats on your results so far
Senior Member mattj Posted May 30, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted May 30, 2017 Jumping up to the higher strength Rogaine could definitely cause some hairs to go into the Telogen (resting) phase, leading to a temporary loss of density. Your crown looks pretty solid overall. It looks like your HT growth kicked in between the time you started this thread and the more recent photos, even though it's a short period of time. I can certainly see a difference. Everything looks good to me. I am a patient and representative of Dr Rahal. Regular Member ussoccerfan1990 Posted May 31, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 31, 2017 5 months 18 days post op. Question???? My overhead pictures shows good growth I think but my question is, is thinness in hairline due to lack of hair maturity and perhaps more hair coming? Your thoughts on progress guys. Thanks for all responses.
Senior Member mattj Posted June 1, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted June 1, 2017 You should definitely experience a lot more growth over the coming months as well as the maturing of hairs that have already grown.
