Is there a specific brand of finasteride that is best? How about minoxidil?

Hey everyone,

 

I switched from Propecia to a generic brand of finasteride. I did this because Propecia is 3x more expensive. Does anyone have good results from using generic finasteride?

 

I also use Kirkland brand minoxidil (liquid). It seems to work but it does leave my hair with flakes sometimes.

 

Some feedback would be appreciated.

I've always used generic finasteride and I'm confident that it's worked as expected. In terms of brands, I've had Dr. Reddy's and a couple of other brands I can't recall. I did not perceive any difference in effect.

 

I've also used a few different brands of minoxidil from Rogaine to Kirkland to Target brand. As far as I can tell, no difference in quality. I quit using liquid years ago. I prefer foam which does not dry out my scalp.

Have used rogaine, kirkland and lipogaine. Prefer lipogaine, although, there isn't much in it.

 

I find the dropper applicator is the best way of applying it.d It goes directly on the scalp and less gets stuck on the hair.

Use the branded Proscar. It's cheaper than propecia but still made by Merck so you don't have to question if it is genuine.

I switched about two years ago to generic and lost some real ground so switched back to Propecia. I've read other posts where people have experienced similar experiences so keep an eye on it.

Hey everyone,

 

I have been noticing some shedding lately. When I first started my minoxidil/finasteride regimen, I hardly saw any shedding. I would shower and maybe see 4 or 5 hairs in my hand. I closely clean my scalp and monitor for fallen hairs. This past week I have seen around 25-30 hairs in my hand while showering. Maybe I am overreacting but it is really a drastic change. Has the finasteride stopped kicking in? Has my body become accustomed to it? Should I try a different brand of finasteride? Thoughts?
