Regular Member adam250 Posted January 20, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted January 20, 2017 Hey guys, i am thinking about getting an FUE transplant next year. I am 29 years old and have substantial hair loss, NW7 probably. I have been advised i can have 2 x FUE transplant from a company in Europe. This should give a better hairline and more density overall. I usually have my hair very short and was wondering if anyone has had any experience of FUE and how short you can have your hair and still be able to hide scars. I am also not 100% sure as i have been told my donor area wasn't great by a surgeon in the UK. My hair was still quite short when i had the consultation a couple of years ago. I have attached pictures if anyone can offer any advice it would be appreciated
Senior Member gillenator Posted January 20, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted January 20, 2017 Have you considered buzzing your scalp? You have a good shape scalp for that. I opened several of your pics into larger frames and you definitely have some significant retro-alopecia going on. Possibly this is why one of the doctors mentioned the concern of your donor area. The donor density level also looks more on the low side. And I agree with you that you are headed for a Norwood 7. If your donor zone is not confirmed as stable, meaning, DHT resistant, then you could lose the transplanted hair in the future which would not be a good thing. Regular Member adam250 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 20, 2017 I do shave down to a 0 but because of my skin tone you can still see the shadow horse shoe around my head which is what i hate the most. So would you suggest another opinion on my donor area?
Senior Member KO Posted January 21, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted January 21, 2017 I think you may be a good candidate for SMP, but perhaps don't have the donor for an HT. 3382 FUE Lupanzula http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/185463-3382-grafts-lupanzula.html
pryzbo646
I think you may be a good candidate for SMP, but perhaps don't have the donor for an HT. Second this opinion. If you want to get rid of the horseshoe SMP might be your best option.
Senior Member DavidAnderson Posted January 24, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted January 24, 2017 I would echo what the others say that a transplant with your level of loss and limited donor hair is not going to provide a natural pattern of coverage and density. I would shave your head or look into SMP as KO suggests. Senior Patient Advisor for Dr Edward Ball of The Maitland Clinic.
