I appreciate the prompt advice HTsoon! And all of your consistent contributions to the community. You have your wicked hairline result I hope the crown matches up :D

I'm gonna go a bit of the other way on this one and suggest you actually trim the hair up top a bit. As your new hairs will soon start sprouting through, it's easier to manage if all the hairs a relatively the same length. At the same time, I'd still recommend applying pure aloe (zero alcohol) to the recipient area to keep moisture and reduce redness. The longer you can let your skin naturally breathe, the better.

Can't wait to see your updates over the next few months!

Thanks for the advice N0Air! I agree, the part that I would want to trim more is native hair on top just so it makes the discrepancy between the transplanted area not so severe. It is just a matter of being able to stick it out with a hat. The hardest part I have found with this is essentially with dating.

Hope the move went well and you are enjoying your lettuce

I buzzed all of mine at 3-3.5 months and was glad I did. Psychologically, the even look made me feel/think I was past the ugly duckling phase.

The choppy, uneven growth crap looked terrible on me

Thanks Ernie! I agree that you looked much better after you buzzed it at 3 months. I am fairly certain I am going to do the same at my 3 month mark (March 19). I know it will set me back from my ideal result - but to be honest due to a few social events I need to look better now and will not be able to use toppik.

Quick update - I have not had any pimples for the past week or so (not sure if this is a good or bad thing). Here are some updated pics from when I cut the sides. I have taken pics before cutting and after with my hair wet/dry.

Would love to hear comments/feedback as I know this is one of the toughest period of the recovery process!

Nice to read your HT experience. I got mine done 2 days ago. So I am about 3 months behind you and would be keenly following your progress. You mentioned in one of your posts that you wore a cap at all time after your HT. How early did you wear it after your HT?

Hey man! Congrats on your procedure :)

I kind of hibernated and didn't go anywhere in public pretty well until the 10-14 day mark, just took it easy. I did wear a hat (that the clinic provided) to go to the clinic to get my washes done every day for the first week, but I put it on very loosely and carefully (front brim on forehead first and then slide the back on), and took it off in reverse order.

After 10 days, the grafts are firmly in place and you should be able to wear a hat no problem, but if it were me I would just be cautious still with it the hat rubbing against the transplanted area. Once I moved to my normals hats it was mostly higher brimmed baseball hats that barely touched my scalp. When you are in private take it off though so it can breath.

Thanks for sharing your experience. After reading your response, I decided I am not wearing a cap for next 10 days or so. I came to work today and wore the loose hat the clinic had given me. It was a little uncomfortable explaining to my colleagues what I had gone through and why I am wearing this clinic hat. Fortunately for me almost everyone was understanding and that made things easy for me.

Hi Kshattsy,

Great reading your thread and following your progress. I too had a HT with Dr Hasson. Mine was done on Feb 22, 2017 FUE with 2187 grafts. You are basically 2 months ahead of me so following your every post ;). I am 2 days away from 1 month and the last few days have been extreme shedding. Your HT is very similar to mine so far. I had all grafts added to the front to increase density and put my trust in Dr Hasson to design the hairline as close as it was to my natural hairline.

All the best to you and good luck with your progress.

Well, I think I am nearly out of this ugly duckling phase, exciting stuff! Based on the progress from 2-3 months, I am hoping this will pop this next month. Shockloss has got a lot better thank goodness and I am getting closer to not wearing a hat!

Candid questions/comments are always appreciated.

It is nice having someone to follow who is slightly ahead of you with a similar HT so you can ask questions and see what you have to look forward to! You are in the worst part of it all so stay positive, I think 30-40 days is ground zero. You are welcome to reach out if you'd like.

Attached are my 4 month pics! Well actually 5 days short of 4 months. There is some big time progress.

The pics were after my first haircut at my old barbershop since my operation. My hair has grown to where I can style it and I feel it is getting significantly better week by week.

I included some pics under bright lights in my bathroom and also in natural light.

As always - questions/comments of any nature are very much appreciated.

Update?

Sorry about the delay! I am going into Hasson and Wong for pictures pretty soon, so should have some good quality picture updates consistent to earlier.

Things are progressing extremely well though! Getting denser by the week, still a few holes in the hairline so hoping sprouting/thickening will continue. This month has been much more fun though :)

I've attached a pic at the 5 month mark under harsh bathroom lighting and antother one a week later in an office with normal / semi dim lighting.

Thanks Ernie!

So glad to have those dark days of brutal shockloss behind me. At the 2 month mark, you are looking great yourself, looks like the ugly duckling phase this time around isn't as bad for you!

Happy growing my friend

Here is another update at the 6 month 1 week mark. Have some serious hat hair in the first 3 so I took 3 more by myself with it styled.

It actually feels worse - maybe I just need a haircut, but also just went through a stressful time in my life and wonder if this contributed.

Or maybe the combing of the hair... I notice quite a bit more hair falling out in the shower than usual. My initial concern of the "space" just behind the transplanted hair or just behind the front of the hairline makes me feel like I wish more was put in there...especially just behind the front/right of my hairline.

I have included some pictures with it styled, but it feels like I am just covering up the bad spots with my current style.

Can anybody relate to this? Hoping for a big improvement this next month

Wow this is great progress, do yourself a favor go back a few pages and look what you looked like 4 months ago, you've come so far, I think you could probably cut your hair a tad shorter and use a different styling product that doesn't make your hair clump. But other than that man I'm happy for you H&W are doing good FUE and there's doctors out there saying it's luck, sure every single FUE case I've seen from H&W has been good and it's just random guys who make threads.

5 months your hair looks neat and groomed!

6 months you just need a proper hair cut! Just to assure you, you still have half way to go..

More thickness and some growth on your way.

Do keep us updated though

I agree with the other posters. Your hair looks unkempt and chunky, and not only in your most recent photos. You seem to be using a type of hair gel that really makes your hairs stick together into strands, which is very counterproductive. Take a look at the following photo: https://www.google.ca/search?q=moulding+clay+dry&client=safari&rls=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwieuobbr-jUAhXBKWMKHUy2DCYQ_AUICigB&biw=1280&bih=689#tbm=isch&q=dark+hair+men&imgrc=Pg0BL4m6Dbm6IM:

The guy uses minimal product and instead of gel, he uses a type of clay that keeps his hair looking dry.

You should seriously consider hiring a proper stylist. He or she will recommend hair product to you that will keep your hair from clumping together (which is the bane of hair transplant procedures because you are in substance taking away all of your newfound density). I recommend getting a styling product such as the following molding clay: https://www.google.ca/search?q=joico+ice+hair+erratic&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiuner8rujUAhUE32MKHUz5BWcQ_AUIBigB&biw=1280&bih=689#imgrc=Oaw15fNjxjU4HM:

You only use a tiny amount and it will keep your hair looking dry. Good luck.

Awesome advice from all! I really appreciate it. After getting a haircut I can confirm it is looking better, I think it was just a bad hair day that spooked me when I saw the pictures.

Onwards with the process! I will post updates fairly soon.
