Regular Member Justhadtransplant Posted August 31, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted August 31, 2016 I had a hair transplant 2 days ago. Today a graft came out,3 hairs closely knit together. Is it possible that the bulb still stayed in scalp? There was no bleeding. I was being very gentle. It had been exactly 48 hours after transplant and I was dabbing the graft gently. I want to know if I lost the graft forever or if part of the hair could have stayed in the head. 48 hours is quite early to shed naturally. Please answer honestly with your best opinion. -Benjamin
Senior Member StaggerLee123 Posted September 1, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted September 1, 2016 Yes you probably lost a graft, at 48 hours they are not permanent yet.
Senior Member ModernHair Posted September 1, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted September 1, 2016 I wouldn't worry too much about it. You are bound to lose a few which is inconsequential compared to the 2,200 you received. By Day 8 you'll be able to put those worries out of your mind as the grafts are sealed in there really well by then according to Dr. Bernstein. 1,792 graft FUE with Dr. James Harris (Denver, Colorado) on April 2-3, 2015 313 graft FUE with Dr. James Harris (Denver, Colorado) on May 3, 2016 to make it perfect!!! Senior Member ndubya Posted September 1, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted September 1, 2016 It happens, I had one hanging out so bad at 3 weeks that I just grabbed it and got rid of it. Very annoying as it was obviously not going to survive and was a serious eyesore. In the end, it is just one graft, so don't stress too much. I'm sure your results will be great. Senior Member voxman Posted September 1, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted September 1, 2016 was this a one hair graft or a few hair graft? By your own description, a 3 hair graft - but regardless, it was only one graft, Sadly, your count is now 2199. I'm serious. Just look at my face. My Hair Regimen: Lather, Rinse, Repeat. Senior Member Speegs Posted September 2, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted September 2, 2016 Don't worry about it, just be careful. One graft out of 2200 is a droplet. If you protect the graft and had a good surgeon then 95 percent of the grafts should grow, meaning you're likely to lose at least 110 grafts or so, whether you see it or not, that many likely won't survive. Be careful for another 4 days, then put your mind at ease, around day seven so long as you're not rubbing your head with a Brillo pad, your grafts are nearly impossible to dislodge accidentally. By day 10 you'd have to surgically remove the grafts you have. LEAVE SCABS alone until day 10 and all is well. Hair loss patient and transplant veteran. Once a Norwood 3A. Senior Member Speegs Posted September 2, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted September 2, 2016 I thought nothing could have happened if there was no blood.Rule of thumb that's true, but at 48 hours the wound is so fresh, it's doubtful that nothing was disturbed.
