Sun exposure and new grafts

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I was wondering if there is any danger in being in a room where there is a window and the blinds are down completely, but there is still some sunlight leaking in. Should I be worried that this might have affected my grafts?

Thanks so much!

Very doubtful that any damage was done especially with the blinds down.

You would feel any sunburn if that occurred and mild exposure to sunlight while indoors would never do that IMHO.

Unless your scalp was directly exposed to the thin ray of light coming in long enough for you to get a sunburn, you don't have anything to worry about.

Sitting in front of a window with no blinds with the sun beaming right down on your scalp for an extended period of time would be an issue, as the rays travel right through the glass - but that's a whole other situation.

I never knew the sun could damage new grafts! How long are you talking after the procedure?

Different doctors give different specific guidelines, but in general, you should avoid direct sunlight exposure for the first 6 months following a procedure.
