Ok when you show that pre op pic it looks like you suffered shockloss biiiig time Hopefully it grows back. I started seeing maybe 50 % return of shockloss after 3,5 Month i think What do people you see on Daily basis say about the sudden loss of that much hair? Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted May 15, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 15, 2016 First I have to say you remind me of Josh Brolin, ok now that I got that off my chest, you're in the worst stage, 3.5 months is ground zero for the ugly duckling phase. Things should begin to improve in the next two months. This is the worst time, because the doubts creep in, it feels like it's been a long time, then you start to think "wtf why do I look worse after surgery" don't worry, the hair will grow back and then some, you've had more than enough hair to make up for any permanent shock loss. Remember you've just transplanted over 3K grafts of thick healthy hair that is probably double the diameter of any miniaturized hair that may have been on its last legs. Shock loss can take up to the full year to grow back, you've had a densely packed procedure this has caused significant trauma to the native hair, it's no surprise you experienced shock loss, you may want to begin applying minoxidil if you aren't already, you could try castor oil as well. Senior Member ModernHair Posted May 15, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted May 15, 2016 You had way more grafts than I did but I also had some shockloss in my forelock area since all of my transplants were in my first 1/3 as well. It all grew back beautifully. I'd say my forelock hair was pretty much back to where it was pre-surgery by 8-9 months. Don't lose sleep over it. It will come back strong and looks like you're going to have a tremendous result! Wow did he pack a lot of hairs in that area! 1,792 graft FUE with Dr. James Harris (Denver, Colorado) on April 2-3, 2015 313 graft FUE with Dr. James Harris (Denver, Colorado) on May 3, 2016 to make it perfect!!! Senior Member Ernie Posted May 15, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) Htsoon/ ModernHair, Really needed to hear this - specifically pushing out the "shockloss" return to full status timeline. Rahal did say after examining my forelock in person from 1 foot away that my native hair in that area appeared stable/healthy. And he said people with my characteristics (skin/hair/Caucasian) generally have good recovery Have never used minox. 17yrs of fin has done the trick. Would using minox in currently barren recipient area really honestly help?.... Senior Member Ernie Posted May 21, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 21, 2016 So, I was sitting here today staring at my hair as we tend to do at 3 months, 3 days post-op. I was looking at myself without having a haircut since a shaved head on day 0. It looked terrible, and I thought to myself "this ugly duckling" bullsh*t is lousy. Realizing it wouldn't be possible to look any worse, I hustled down to my local SuperCuts and told them to "#3 this mess everywhere" (YES, the guy asked me if I'd had a HT -- I said "of course!" and left it at that). So... after the haircut I was stunned at how much "fuller" my HT area looked when I reduced the length of my native hair to a #3! In darker rooms it looks 'amaze.' --- honestly, I was a bit critical of my HT until I got a haircut just now. Has sprouting begun? -- I'd say 'not really,' but a helluva lot better than the pic with my hair longer. First pic, immediately pre-op / post-op, 2nd pic is before today's haircut, others are after haircut in various lighting. I'd already look OK in a dark Mexican restaurant or a nightclub, lol ADVICE -- if you're @3-3.5 months, get a haircut man!! 3185 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 2/17/16 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/182611-fut-3185-dr-rahal-day-after-pics.html 1204 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 3/27/17 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/186586-round-2-rahal-1204-fut-frontal-third-same-area.html ---> total of 4389 grafts to my frontal third via FUT ---> 1mg finasteride daily since 1999

Senior Member Ernie Posted June 16, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 16, 2016 4 months. In an earlier post I mentioned that I thought my mid-scalp area was miniaturizing, but with only a quarter-inch haircut it seems like maybe I was wrong. One last thing from earlier posts, my frontal forelock (native hair) is creeping back. First pic is pre-op. Senior Member mav23100gunther Posted June 17, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted June 17, 2016 It's looking real good Ernie, already an improvement from pre-op and your Rahal hairline is taking shape nicely. Looks like you are also an early grower. A lot more to come, especially more growth and then the maturing of those new hairs. Enjoy the transformation over the next few months. Senior Member Rawkerboi Posted June 19, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted June 19, 2016 Everything seems fine but be careful with Toppik, they are bit addictive because no matter how good your hair is there is a small urge to make it look more fuller and thicker! Senior Member Ernie Posted July 15, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2016 nice hair ernie. One question: Did you get any sides on propecia and did it save all your hair? Hi Navi, I've had no sides taking propecia. And yes it saved all of my hair. My family is NW 6, and I had "almost" a full head of hair at 40yo prior to my first HT five months ago. Had I not been on propecia, there'd be no hair -- thus why bother getting an HT (just my opinion). Propecia had to be first for me...

Senior Member mav23100gunther Posted July 17, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2016 I think it's starting to look good. You definitely still have plenty of growth and maturing still to come, but I will betcha that you see a significant improvement at 6 months and then again at 7 months.
