Senior Member mav23100gunther Posted February 15, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted February 15, 2017  Yes the chance increases with subsequent procedures, and for touchup-up procedures I like stick and place where the surgeon places one graft at a time. But Rahal has a good reputation so it should be fine, are there are any posts of Rahal doing second procedures with success into existing hair here? I know he's a master at dense packing but would like to see cases of existing hair. I hate to toot my own horn, but he did my 2nd procedure into existing hair. I was nowhere close to Ernie's density though but .... *http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/181957-dr-rahal-2-245-graft-procedure-fut.html Some more pre-op pics on page
Senior Member Ernie Posted February 15, 2017 Author Senior Member Share Posted February 15, 2017 (edited) Round 1 with Rahal was such a great result that I'd be foolish to go with another doc for round 2. Just imagine if I chose another doc and got a subpar 2nd round result? I'd be kicking myself for years to come. my head + his hands = gotta go with 'The Hairline King' again. Regarding pushing density limits, the areas I'm going to fill are sub-optimal at the moment (up close and in-person) and my grafts at very front of hairline were the only placements in round 1 that were targeted for "60grafts/cm2" area. I'm of the cautious opinion that I'll be a happy camper by Christmas :-) Edited February 15, 2017 by Ernie 3185 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 2/17/16 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/182611-fut-3185-dr-rahal-day-after-pics.html 1204 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 3/27/17 http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/186586-round-2-rahal-1204-fut-frontal-third-same-area.html ---> total of 4389 grafts to my frontal third via FUT ---> 1mg finasteride daily since 1999

Senior Member Sean Posted March 3, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted March 3, 2017 Its a pretty delicate area. Try to cover it or mask it with toppik if you can. However if you need to, then around 1500 or so guesstimate. Give the area some time to heal before sitting back in that chair. Best of luck and I wish you the best. I see you've opted for another FUT (which I understand based on your previous success) but would you not perhaps be tempted to go down the FUE route and put a couple of grafts into the scar? I'd imagine you'd be able to go all the way down to a 2 (or even a 1)after this as I understand that 5 is pretty much your limit right now. YES I am very very tempted to do FUE (and FUE into scar) -- but why? What's the point, because in 4-6 short months I'll be okay. I mean, sure the donor heals up real quick, but if my postop goes anything like my first round, I'm going to have brutal shockloss again anyway, ya know? I'll trade another brutal shockloss for another 1000-1200 to get my frontal third "just right" I guess I'm not willing to FUE until I strip out first.... 3185 FUT with Dr.

I think that's a prudent course of action, FUE shouldn't be harnessed until an FUT is no longer an option in my humble opinion, especially if someone has already had an FUT procedure. Senior Member Ernie Posted March 27, 2017 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 27, 2017 Just got back to the Rahal guest house after my 2nd FUT with Dr. Rahal. Roughly 1200 grafts into the same area as before - frontal third around the tuft. Will start a new thread as soon as I get the exact graft count, before pics, immediate-postop pics, etc.. Senior Member thatoldchestnut Posted March 29, 2017 Senior Member Share Posted March 29, 2017 Dang Ernie, not wasting any time I see! All the best on your 2nd op, you're in good hands and I think the decision to go for FUT makes sense. If you're desperate to cut your hair markedly shorter you can always FUE into the scar at a later date, without getting any other work done Rahal is the master of aesthetics imo, as your previous results (and countless others) prove! Rest up, get ready to have ridiculously nice hair!
Regular Member ejojer9 Posted August 1, 2017 Regular Member Share Posted August 1, 2017 No doubt propecia from age 23/24 until now has helped IMMENSELY. Hey there Ernie, Have you only been on Propecia or have you also done generics? Trying to determine whether generics are as effective as brand name. So far all doctors I speak to say yes, especially those sold on US grounds.
