Dr. Vladimir Panine
This 29 year old gentleman was a class 4v. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. His goal was to achieve a natural looking hairline with as much coverage as possible into the frontal 1/2 of his scalp. We need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration when designing his hair line and the surgical plan. I indicated to him that it would be best to still keep some temple recession as that design will look good for him at age 29 and also look good as he continues to age. I explained to him that with his degree of hair loss, one procedure would not make his hair look as dense as before he started losing his hair, but that I could give him enough coverage to take 10 years off of his appearance. I also explained that if he wanted more density after his first procedure, his donor area would support another procedure. A second procedure would allow us to add more density into the frontal area or into his crown. I also explained to him that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If this was to happen the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now. He had a total of 3,553 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,289 single hair, 1,584 two hair grafts and 680 three hair grafts. These are his results 8 months post-op and he will continue to get more improvement over the next 4-7 months. He is extremely happy with his results.
