Senior Member Drew35 Posted April 9, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 9, 2009 What kind of hat do you guys recommend after a hair transplant? Senior Member Leeson Posted April 9, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 9, 2009 They'll give you a cool bandana to wear. It looks hip in Canada. My Hair Loss Website - Dr. Hasson
Senior Member CuriousJungleGeorge Posted April 9, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 9, 2009 Many doctors, it seems, fit patients with a baseball cap to wear home after the procedure. It seems, however, this can adhere to, then pull out, a few grafts, sometimes.
Senior Member Drew35 Posted April 9, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted April 9, 2009 I'll just put the hat on over the bandana. - 1st Transplant: 5,485 grafts with Dr Jerry Wong 2nd Transplant: 3,100 grafts with Dr Jerry Wong 3rd Transplant: 5,035 grafts with Dr Sanusi Umar My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Wong

Bill - Seemiller
Drew, In my experience, it's probably better to do one or the other. The more coverings you put on, the more you risk damaging the grafts. I'm sure the clinic will give you both the hat and the bandana. Personally, I wore the hat on the way home from the clinic and the bandana for the day's worth of flights. I find the bandana light and uninteruptive unlike a hat where the brim kept falling in my face. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member imissthebarber Posted April 10, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 10, 2009 Don't wear a knit hat like a beanie because it is more likely to pull the grafts out.
Regular Member youngproper Posted April 10, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted April 10, 2009 The first days that i had to go from the clinic to the hotel i used the one my doctor gave me, which was a very very very awful, like a blue paper for patients in a hospital. By the time i had to fly to my home i bought and used this: its 100% Cotton (what you need) and if you buy a big size it won't even touch your grafts. my 2 cents. Senior Member Maxxy Posted April 10, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 10, 2009 I was given a sweat band to reduce swelling and wore a loose cap, the rim of the cap can be placed over the sweat/head band preventing it from touching the receipt or donor area. Regular Member hairdoyle Posted April 10, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted April 10, 2009 i used a bandana and kept a band aid around to give something for the bandana to lean on so it was sort of like a tent with nothing touching the grafts, very imaginative lol

Senior Member PLEASE GROW PLEASE Posted April 11, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 11, 2009 A bandanna works great . Also get a travel pillow and one of those big ble gel icepacks to rest your head against . Trust me on this youll be thanking me big time. It conforms to your head perfectly and alleviates the tightness and greatly reduces the pressure when you lay back. You can even cool it [not freeze} it feels great plus helps with the swelling
Senior Member CuriousJungleGeorge Posted April 11, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 11, 2009 I'll second the suggestion of having a neck-/travel-pillow handy for the first few (two to four) nights. It's not essential, but is helpful. Of course, everyone's different. Understand, though, you'll be sleeping pretty uncomfortably during that initial phase of recovery (the meds. might help knock you out somewhat fast, though). Senior Member latinlotus Posted April 11, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted April 11, 2009 I had a sarah wrap over my head (sort of like a shower cap) and had a loose fitting cap over. This is to prevent the cap from touching the graft. However, to do it again, I would advise against wearing anything until the grafts are settled (around 7-10 days). It is not worth it. ******** I am not a doctor. The opinions and comments are of my own. Regular Member dannyskywalker Posted April 13, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted April 13, 2009 I wore a Toque, which I usually wear, except I cut a bandana in half and wore it under the hat, sisnt want to snag the grafts, but after a long day it sucked. at work I wore a loose old flexfit baseball cap backwards, forwords would have caused a snag, I looked like a dirt bag. if you dont care about how you look wear something ascinine, like a duRag, lol. check out goorin Bros. and Hanna hats, I wish I invested better after the HT. 2998 grafts/ Dr. Rahal/ 9/11/2007 My Hair Loss Weblog - Hair Transplant with Dr. Rahal Pretty damn happy
