FUE HT with Dr Marwan Saifi, Wroclaw, Poland - FUE 2050 grafts 2/10/15 - Diffuse Norw

Hi all,

I first started using this site in January 2015 and found it to be very beneficial in acquiring information in regards to hair restoration. I always said I would return the favour to the forum when I had my HT so here I am. I will try keep this post short but the journey up to my HT was anything but. I decided in January I was going to do something about my hairloss and done as much research as possible. I am 30 years old and noticed thinning when I was 27 years old. In January i went on minoxidil and bought a lasercomb which has seemd to halt my loss and even regrow a small few hairs. I have steered clear from propecia due to sides fear and am aware i have put myself at a disadvantage. Anyway I consulted with numerous hair restoration clinics seeking diagnosis, help, information and ultimately seeking a cure.

In July after speaking with a number of clinics, many, which are recommend here, I decided to opt for Dr Saifi in Poland, strangely the surgeon who recommended the least amount of grafts for my restoration procedure. I say strangely because when i started out looking into hair restoration I wanted 5000 or 6000 grafts without question. Take me back to teenage years i thought and I wanted the opposite of conservative. Thankfully I became educated on hairloss and Dr Saifis approach seemed somewhat conservative but not limited and for someone with my level of hairloss it seemed to be realistic and honest. A lot of other surgeons were happy to recommend I get 5000+ grafts.

I booked with Dr Saifi in July and paid my deposit of €500 euro to secure surgery date which is non-refundable . I feel it's important to mention I contacted Dr Saifi 5 weeks ago as I was a bit nervous and panicked and he offered to refund my non-refundable deposit if I wanted to pull out of the procedure or if I want to postpone it for a future date he would hold it for me. I think this is testiment to the kind of guy Dr Saifi is.

Fast forward to the present and I had my surgery 4 days ago. I flew to Wroclaw and stayed at a recommended hotel by Marwan Saifi,The Art Hotel. I went for surgery on the 2nd October at 08:45. Dr Saifi had originally estimated I needed 2500 grafts but in the consultation in person he estimated I need only proceed with 2000 grafts. We agreed a hairline which was higher than my original hairline and agreed to leave the crown alone. I had decided prior to consultation that I would go with what Dr Saifi thought was best, as much as I would have loved an 18 yr olds hairline again haha.

The procedure took about 6-7 hours. Apart from the anesthetic injections it was painless. Dr Saifi done all the extractions himself and made all the incisions himself. They only carry out one operation a day in this surgery. It's hard to fit it all in without boring people so I won't delay. All I can say is that I was very happy with the whole experience. Felt like I was in great hands throughout the experience and am very satisfied with the experience. I will leave you with my pics and anyone with any questions please fire away. The purpose of this post is just to give back to this network which has helped me so much in recent months. And also I promised one or two members I would make a forum post and felt I couldn't back out lol

Congrats romper, I've never seen the extraction pattern like that in FUE before it's fascinating , it actually makes a lot of sense it follows the same pattern as a strip, which would ensure the grafts are taken from the permanent zone, also the strip he left was that on purpose? Just in case you wanna go FUT in the future. Physicians on here have stated its always best to strip first then FUE, however, I think with the extraction pattern he followed leaving that strip essentially virgin would be perfect to then go FUT. Very interesting to say the least, I'm sure your results are going to be great. Make sure you keep us posted on your monthly progress.

thank you very much HTsoon. Yes the strip is left on purpose by the doctor. Although I assured him I wasn't interested in FUT he said he would like to leave a strip in the donor untouched just incase down the line I had a change of heart. He said he likes to do this for patients as it keeps their options open and if the donor availability allows it he will leave this unspoiled strip as a "grafts in the bank" if you like. He is extremely particular about avoiding transection in the donor area.

So logical surprising that approach isnt taken more often.

Just a quick update. I can notice some of the transplanted hair shedding with each wash and am surely heading towards the ugly phase. I really enjoyed the week or so that looked like I'd loads of hair again. Hopefully it will only be a matter of months and I can have it back.

Could someone answer a question for me in relation to FUE? In the image below, where you can see the area where the FUE grafts were extracted. Can you go back to that very area again in a future case and take more FUE grafts from it or does that whole red area only offer a lifetime of only 2000 grafts?

is that including the strip? if you was to go down that route.

I didn't actually ask him whizz unfortunately but def I assume he meant including the strip yes. And I also think he meant 3 procedures def not exceeding 2000 grafts. But again it was just general conversation I never asked specifics as I was a bit overwhelmed sitting in the operating chair. At the moment I'm just focusing on this procedure. He did say I had lots of 3's and even 4's so I'm optimistic of a satisfactory result

The ugly duckling phase sucks, density looks really good, makes you wish you could just stay like that. Everything's looking good romp

Seems to be great work by Saifi again. Great approach.

Rarely seems to get any recognition on here, but thats probably because he's not a paying member.

Good luck and I hope you get good growth, Im sure you will. I may be back with him for a final ht in the new year.

Head and shoulders above my experience with Doganay!

Look forward to the updates.

HT No1 : Nobel clinic, Gatwick 500 grafts - Terrible result, left with bumpy skin

HT No2 : Marwan Saifi 1680 grafts. Great result

HT No3 - Marwan Saifi 1250 grafts. Another good result.

HT No4 - Hakan Doganay 2134 grafts. Result TBA

Total 5134 grafts.

How many months post op are you with doganay? So many negative things have been said about Dr. Doganay lately it's completely changing my perception of him.

Cheers buzz, I think you can only be recommended here as a doctor if you are willing to pay so a lot of doctors probably slip under the radar. Fortunately for me the likes of yourself and a few others had experience of Dr. Saifi which made the decision all the more easy for me. Thanks for all the help and advice mate?

I wasn't going to bother updating because there is no change but said I would for the forum's benefit. I think nearly all transplanted hairs have shed. I have lost no hair to shockloss so far and all my native hair has remained intact despite the obvious miniaturisation of my pre op state. My surgeon boldly said shockloss is largely down to the surgeon's ability ?truly love he's confidence.
