This 30 year old was a class 3v. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. This patient objective was to rebuild his hairline and add as much density as possible to the frontal ? of scalp while adding some density to the crown. I explained to him that we need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration when planning the surgery. I indicated that it would be best to keep some temple recession so that it will look good for him at 30 and also look good for him as he ages. I agreed to do about 1,000 grafts to the frontal area of the crown, but did not want to get too aggressive due to the fact he could lose more hair. I also explained that there was a possibility that he could still lose more of his own hair in the future. If this was to happen the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now. He is presently on Propecia, to hopefully help stabilize further hair loss. If Propecia stabilizes his hair loss I agreed to do another procedure to his crown in a few years.

 

He had a total of 4,387 grafts. The break down was as follows: 2,147 single hair, 2,084 two hair grafts and 156 three hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 1 year post-op. Wow, very well planned and presented. Love the hairline result and he has killer natural temple points. Is he also on Minoxidil? Might help, especially in the crown area.

I'll have to agree with you on the hairline result for the patient; he was very pleased with the natural look. Also, regarding Minoxidil - the patient is only on Propecia.
