Apologies, my write-up is not detailed but I'm attaching my pics below (pre-op, post op, day 6 and day 33). Would like your thoughts pls and also I will be updating this thread with new pics every month.

Some pics on the donor area also included (day 33).

Cheers

Looks like everything is going to plan, you seem to have healed well. Your hair pre-op reminded me of my own pre-op. It's early days but you look like your well on your way.

Quite a decision to go from the UK to Canada, what persuaded you to make that particular trip?

Good luck with the rest of your journey, enjoy the ride.

The healing has gone well indeed. The only concern for me is the native hair are not growing as much I'd like. I am on rogaine as well as propecia (limted to twice to three times a week due to sides).

With regards to going to Canada, I'm sure majority of the people would agree here that Dr Rahal is one of the best if not the best FUT surgeons in the world, so there was no hesitation in going to Canada.

Nice work from Dr Rahal. Like the design of the hairline too. Looks like having FUT was a good choice for you. Your donor area does not appear that strong in the pics?

To be honest I went for FUT because I have always seen stronger/denser results for FUT as compared to FUE. This of course is just my opinion.

With regards to the donor, it seems that I have had some shock loss in the donor area and the picture for day 33 reflects that I think. Here is a preop pic of the donor. Thoughts?

Dr.Rahal is definitely great FUT Surgeon no doubt

The work looks good but now you have entered The Great Ugly Duckling Phase, patience is the key to overcome that phase

Hope you had a great time in Amberwood Guest House:rolleyes:

Heal well

I must admit the first time i saw your pics I assumed it was shock loss tbh. Also, I agree that many of the most "wow factor" results are FUT rather than FUE (that's not to say FUE doesn't have them, they surely do!).

Love Rahal's hairline aesthetics, one of the indisputable masters of it imo.

Indeed i am in that phase, just concerned about the native hair at the moment.

The guesthouse was great, met some great ppl. I'd say the only downside was there were no places to eat closeby/walking distance.

Had a haircut on 2nd of Aug, nearly 7 weeks post op. Not much has changed - waiting on the native hair to grow as I know the transplanted ones have some way to go before showing up. Pls let me know your thoughts - very keen to hear from you about your thoughts on my pics/update. Donor area pic taken with flash. Thanks

Hey buddy,

Can I be completely honest with you? You are going to drive yourself crazy by taking and posting pics every month when it's so soon after the procedure. My advice is to try just forget about it, try avoid looking at your hair in the mirror, and get to the 4 month post-op Mark. At that point you will start noticing all hell breaking loose, and then I would do the monthly comparisions. I somehow made it to the 4 month mark, and when I compared to pre-op pics, I knew I was in business.

Happy growing!!!

You are both right and I agree. Having said that I just wanted give an update to the people who have viewed my post and get some feedback on the healing.

Nothing much to report at the moment as expected - can't wait till the 4 month mark.

Yes you are going to see some results at the four month mark. Just be patient. I remember when I had my first procedure with doc Rahal how I used to look several times a day in the mirror looking for signs of growth lol. It will happen. No worries.

You can take a look at my blog if you like from my first HT. It follows the whole month by month growth cycle pretty good (with pictures). Hope this helps. Sorry I don't know how to include a direct link to it for you. I will have to figure out how to do that.

All the best!

Hello, Yes you are right with regards to checking in the mirror. I have the same problem :) I'm very impatient but at the same time I know 4 month mark is the pivotal time. I'm sure you had a great experience with Dr Rahal - I cant praise enough how good his staff were to name a few Fiona, April and also Dua. And ofcourse Mike is again one of nicest people one will come across. Larissa has been great in answering any queries I've had and last but not the least Dr Rahal, he's a star. I just hope the result lives up to my experience.

At what point did you notice a significant difference? Im nearly 3 months now and notice stubble like hair in the recipient area, I guess at the moment I can feel about 40-50 small hair popping out.

At four months, you will start to see some growth. But, If memory serves, at month six, you will really see it happening. And from that moment on, things will only get better and better!

The thing though that really got to me about this whole experience, is the fact that people that saw me as this new growth was happening, never really clued in that new hair was growing on my head. They would just say things like " your looking good" etc. People don't notice that anything was done. Always found that funny lol

I never noticed any significant difference. At month 4.5 I thought things were just starting, however I went to see my HT surgeon for a check-up. He took pics and when he showed me the new pics against my pre-op pics, I was pleasantly surprised at the difference, and could see growth had actually taken place. From that point on till month 6 the growth was significant, and every week you see the hair getting better and better. Even so, when I compared 6 months pics to 4.5, the difference was even better. It seemed to settle in again after month 6 where although you saw the hair coming along nicely, not much of a noticible change week over week, however when I compated 8 month pics to 6 months, you could still see significant progress, thereafter not much. Month 4.5 to month 6 were the best for me and seemed to my sweet spot. It's very exciting when you actually see he change take place in front of your own eyes.

Hi all,

3 month updates, some pics have been taken with flash. Starting to get a bit concerned about growth but I know its 3 months only. The reason why I say that is because I feel its my native hair only that have grown.

Let me know what you guys think comparing these pics to the one's I've posted for the earlier months.

Cheers

Still way too early to start getting concerned. At 3 months you are just getting out of the ugly duckling phase - you will only start noticing growth from month 4 onwards. Stop driving yourself crazy - seriously, cover up all your mirrors and hide away your camera for the next month an a half. At month 4.5 take some pictures and then compare to your before photos and you should see that you are in business. I looked aweful at month 3, and never noticed the growth, but at around midway point between month 4 and 5 I started to notice the changes, and I can tell you that it happens quickly all the way to month 7 where you start noticing weekly improvements

Hello all,

Here are the 4.5 months pics. Let me know what you all think pls.

I personally feel that things could be a lot better especially in the frontal area as compared to others (Dr Rahal's other patients). Still a waiting game I guess.

Thanks

I don't know which other of Dr. Rahal's patients you're comparing yourself to just 4.5 months post op, but it looks to me that things are going great and you should have a tremendous cosmetic improvement (you already have) when all is said and done. Maybe check back with us with new photos at nine to ten months post op? And then 1 year post op? My guess is that compared to your pre op, your cosmetic situation will be strikingly better by then.

Your hair characteristics appear good for ht (thick caliber, somewhat course, with wave), and already you've had significant growth. You went with a reliable and proven harvesting method (FUT/strip) and one of the top docs and clinics in the world. Keep in mind that throughout the next eight to ten months, not only will new transplanted hairs be popping through but other transplanted hair will have gone through additional growth cycles and will be maturing and improving in quality.

You had less than 3,600 grafts transplanted into a rather large area, less than five months ago. Keep in mind also that it isn't at all unusual that an ht patient wants or requires a touch-up session after their first ht has grown in and matured. There may be areas that can use some densifying or tweaking. You'll know more in the coming months but as I said, for this VERY EARLY stage you are showing excellent growth. Try to not drive yourself crazy comparing your still very early growth and maturation to that of other patients (early, spectacular growth is the exception, not the rule) and certainly not to patients whose transplanted hair has had time to fully grow in and mature.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for your encouragement. I did check in with the Rahal clinic and they are full of encouraging words as well which is what one would expect of them given they are world class.

At what point did that "wow" moment for you? 5 months? 6 months?
