Hello everyone, I am new to this so thanks in advance for any advice

Basically its been 3 years I have been suffering from hair loss. I have been on propecia for 3 years now. The issue is that I am suffering from telogen effluvium due to thyroid nutritional deficiency and chronic stress. My hair has been miniaturized.

I tried minoxidil to thicken up but gave me side effects; dry skin and dark circles eyes, so I quit after a month. I have been told because it is telogen effluvium; its reversible. For the past 3 years its been the same. I contacted few hair transplant surgeons but they refused to carry out any procedure mainly because I am young as I am 24 and huge risk of shock loss. They basically said its best if I wait for a few years.

I tried everything; oils, vitamin pills etc. I am about to start forcapil, which I have been told is a great supplement especially when it comes nutritional deficiency.

I am not looking for drastic results, I just want my crown and hair line back so that my scalp is even, I have miniaturised hair at the crown and hair line; someday it looks thicker and sometimes it just gone.

I am considering Scalp pigmentation with existing hair, that would sort add some thickness illusion. I am definitely going for a transplant in a few years, until then I really cant think of an alternative other than pigmentation.

Any advice on what's the best way to treat telogen effluvium?

Many thanks

Hey mate,

Sorry to hear about your situation, do you deal was the a tricologist or any other type of specialist at the moment?

It's unfortunately highly unlikely that a HT surgeon would follow through with a procedure with pre existing conditions conditions.

Are you on any type of medication at present besides fin?

Cheers

I don't know much about TE, but from what I do know, if you can figure out the cause of it it's possible to reverse it. Are you seeing a specialist who can help you figure this out? You mentioned chronic stress being one of the contributing factors, and I do believe that's something that you can help get under control with something like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, for example. I've dealt with anxiety orders in the past and this type of therapy was my saving grace. Not to mention, the success rate is very high and it happens quickly if you commit to the program.

Without getting to the root of the problem, it may be difficult to come up with a solid plan of attack to help you restore your hair.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.
