Shedded hair: Dead grafts or classic L/J hooks? Pic inside

Recommended Posts

I pretty much shedded all transplanted hairs by day 20.

I'm really concerned about the black bulb at the end. Are those dead/dried out grafts or typical shedded hair hooks?

Is it possible that too much bleeding pushed the grafts too much out of the slits that they stayed in the skin but dried out and died?

Thanks for the responses.

Nothing to be worried about. It is just hair that has been shocked into shedding. It comes out different to hair going through normal cyclic growth/shedding.

Most of mine came out with the hooks.

4,312 FUT grafts (7,676 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2013

1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018

763 FUE grafts (2,094 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - January 2020

Proscar 1.25mg every 3rd day

Thanks for the reply. So the hooks are ok but what what about the thicker black bulb?

I' asking because they look so similar to actual grafts without the white issue around it.

Mine had the black blob at the end too. The cells are safe and sound in the white tissue embedded in your scalp.

Thanks so much for clarifying!

I'm just feeling very paranoid at the moment because I realised I accidentally took a low dose of an NSAID (Flurbiprofen 8.75mg lozenge) which could have thinned my blood. Thinned blood may could have led to the grafts being pushed out.

However there was no excessive bleeding during or after surgery so think it did not affect me. Very stupid mistake though.
