Got a photo of the back of my head through magic. Here is how the scar looks at just over 5 weeks. Nothing a bit of Dermmatch in the morning can't cover

So are you saying that you aren't happy the way scar looks like in 5 weeks approx? I am sure it will heal from here on & it will be better as your donor hair grow.

Hey, no that's not hat i meant it's as I expected and have seen on other patients at this stage as well. Very early days yet a lot of healing ahead of me

Hang in there mate. You have 8 more weeks to go before the real magic begins.

I am sure you are going through a lot as going to work like this is a pain in ass. This is the biggest challenge as I believe... 4 weeks post OP to 12 weeks post OP... is the worst time period. But it's worth it.

Thanks mate. It's not too bad for me to be honest, I mentally prepared myself for this time so it's not unexpected. I've just kept the social events to a minimum and got into a good gym routine to try keep my mind off my hair

The gym routine is good, but at what point did you start lifting? Be careful not to over do it.

Hi Spanker, Yeah I've been following Dr. Koniors instructions with this. So I went back after 4 weeks and have been avoiding any exercise that pull or strain the scar - Chest press, squats, lunges, shrugs etc. Have been sticking mainly to cardio and resistance machines / light weights for other exercises and ensuring there's no movement of my neck or head area.

I think it helps to find something to pass the time during this long waiting period!

It's been 2 long months since I had my op. I'm happy so far, things have improved a good bit in the last few weeks. The numbness around the donor area has disappeared. Pretty much all my native hair has grown back as well.

 

The scar is still fairly red and there's a bit of shock loss on the left hand side and at the bottom of the line towards my neck. My hair is long enough to cover it now, although I am gone scruffy looking and could do with a haircut. I'll ride it out another few weeks then try tidy it up myself with the trimmer. Not brave enough to face the barbers yet!

 

Hopefully I'm over the worst part now. Besides the few people i told no one else seems to have noticed I had anything done. It looks better when I use a small bit of nanogen and some hairspray.

 

The photos aren't the best.. I tried to take some in natural light at first but the fading light of winter and me getting home late from work means they turn out crap. It doesn't help that I only have a camera phone as well. if I'm around during the day this week I'll try get some better ones

Thanks for the update mate. Looking at these pics (especially the recipient area) nobody could even say that you had a surgery. It just looks clean.

My guess is another 6 weeks to go before you see some growth.

 

Quick questions:

 

Are you on Propecia? If yes, please can you share the dosage? Are you using it daily (0.5 mg or 1 mg a day)? etc

 

Do you know that out of 3800 grafts how many were used for the hairline, mid scalp and on the crown (if any). Do you remember that break up?

Thanks SunnyCool, that's what really impressed me about the doctors work the most. How clean it was, it makes the process a whole lot easier to go undetected.

 

I am on generic finasteride 5mg, which i split into quarters to make it 1.25g daily. I've been on it for over 3 years., with a break in between for about 6 months.

 

Hmm, I'm not too sure of the graft breakdown to be honest. I know none were used on the crown anyway, we agreed to concentrate on the frontal area/hairline and temples with some on the mid scalp. I'll hopefully address the crown in the future if my donor allows

Nice change in hair around the donor area this month. Covering up nicely. Is the current hairline what was planned or is the new hairline yet to come?

Cheers mate, the shock loss around the scar is still there, but I've enough hair to cover it now. That's pretty much my old hairline but it's not going to change much when the new hair grows.

Most of my loss was just behind the hairline so it's more of a filling in job. I'll try get some pre-op pics from the office to show this

You definitely have a good amount of hair in the crown and middle for a full looking result.

 

I feel for you with the 2 month period. Like watching paint dry and it gets worse in months 3 and 4! Hopefully you will see some light fuzz by the end of month 4.

Sorry bit late with the 3 month update, as Matt says like watching paint dry not much to report, bit of light fuzz maybe, not sure.

I think the scar has healed up a good bit but it's hard to tell until I get a haircut.. which I need but am afraid to go to the barbers The last couple of times I used the clippers on myself but have a wedding in a few weeks time so I may get a proper job done

 

Same issues with these photos as before - crappy camera phone, no natural light in this country on winter evenings, pasty white forehead!

Managed to get a couple earlier in natural light. I have a small bit of product in - SAMY fat hair, just before I put in some nanofibres

So finally went to the barbers todays for 1st time since the surgery. I was worried if the scar would show up as he cut so so I asked for a no.5 blade and scissors on top, I didn't mention to him that I'd any work done. After a a minute with the 5 he suggested a no.4 instead and I went along with it. It came out well, I'm really happy that the scar doesn't show with a blade even at this early stage.

 

The shockloss around the scar has grown back, If you look closely you can see an outline alright, sort of like hathead but you'd have to be looking for it. The barber didn't seem to notice anything either, or if he did he played it cool!

I had no idea ha! It felt good but its hard to really tell until your hair is short. If the barber mentioned anything I was just going to say yeah don't mind the scar and hope to leave it at that! I'm happy with how it's healed after 3 months though. How is yours coming along?
