Month 2 was great for me as most of the initial fear phase of, Is the scar swelling, am i careful about the transplanted hair, being very conscious about what other's might think, has subsided quite a big. My pre op hair has come to my rescue at a good pace and i guess in month 4, i would have hair good enough to cover my baldness to a bit with toppik.

I stopped using toppik by week 5 at the donor and I just go like this and I make sure i dont walk in front of people. And even if they see, they might think it's some weird hairstyle. I am fine with people thinking I am bald at this point, but don't want them to know I had a transplant:D

I also stopped using aloe vera gel at week 5 as I did not find my scalp red anymore.

At the donor area, when I lifted the hair and took a pic (pic included) there seems to be some shock loss. I hope its shock loss and not a stretched scar as I have not started my gym routine after the transplant.

Taking pics by myself is becoming a headache but I will continue to do so till month 12. And I am also finding this site much faster than before :). I have included a comparison set of pics to see the changes between the months. Hope it might be helpful.

Summary

*Pre Op hair growing fast

*Stopped aloe vera at 5 weeks as redness went

*Stopped toppik at 5 weeks

*Crown hair seems to grow in more than what i noticed in 1st month. I am sure I had way more hair in the crown before the transplant.

Hi phantom,

2 months gone now so you're hopefully over the worst of it. You're story is very similar to my own, pre op hair is almost all back, redness went about the same stage and I also have some shock loss at the suture line at the back of my head as well, but it should grow back I'm not too worried about it. I don't think you should be either it's common enough. Happy growing an can't wait to see your next milestone update because that'll mean I'm closing in on mine as well :)

Yes, I understood that most of the things heal over a period of time. So I am not too worried about the donor for now :) @ Bismarck and GBU.

Rambler, that makes me feel good knowing there's one more in my same boat. It would look better if I trim off the sides now to make it even but it would expose the donor which I don't want to. So I will continue this until I feel my donor has fully been covered. And Month 4 would be the next milestone of mine to see some noticeable growth including the temple :)

Just a quick comment -- I too had a procedure done by Dr. Konior about a month after yourself. I've experienced some shock loss around the donor area similar to yours. Although I've kept my hair very long which pretty much conceals it. I also wear a hat at work. I told people I had surgery so they automatically think 'brain'. I don't correct them.

For my surgery, when I went to my boss to ask for leave, I told him I was going to have a small surgery and that I would require a couple of days off. He was like how can you say its small and will 2 days be enough for you ?. I figured out he too was thinking 'brain' surgery :D

I took 2 weeks vacation from the time I was having my procedure, plus I asked my boss if I could do a few weeks "work from home"! I am very lucky to have such a flexible and great organization to work for which allowed me to do that without having to worry about how I'd look going back to work immediately after surgery.

I had my surgery on a Thursday. So took Thu and Fri off. Travelled back from chicago on Sat and took 3 days work from home. So in short managed to squeeze in a week without going to office. One thing I wanted to make sure was to avoid even wearing a cap for the 1st week.

Even while buying food near the clinic or walking in the motel, i was without a cap. I knew places near Konior's office would be used to seeing patients like me so it did not bother me a bit :)

So finally I have hit the month 3 mark and I can say I am finally seeing some growth on my hairline and my new hairline is almost visible to me now :). I can say now I look like someone with hairloss rather than a bald person.

I still look like how I was before the transplant. Once the hairline thickens up, i think the difference would kick in.

I am waiting for the 5 month mark so that i can go and have a haircut and cut off the sides as the sides seems to grow 2X times the top hair.I don't want to cut the sides now as it might expose the shock loss around the donor area.

I spread out my hair ( whatever hair I have :D ) and go for work. But once its brought close together, you can see I still have a big area to cover. Hopefully Dr K's magic will become obvious in the coming 2 months.

FWIW: I would advise going shorter on the sides and back now. You have plenty of hair to conceal the scar and with the downward direction of the hair growth in that region it will surprise you how much coverage results even when the hair is much shorter. Your top will then look much better and overall styling will be much easier. Just my 2 cents.

You have one of the most fortunate balding patterns I've ever seen. This will be a home run...

Respectfully, I think it looks like he headed toward a nw6 pattern without a doubt. It doesn't look especially favorable to me with the exception of having a bit of a persistent fore lock. I think he'll have a good result but I'd personally recommend adding finasteride to his regime to extend the result he'll get.

I'm not sure he can take Fin TBH cas best advise esp at that age & HT

I'm sure Dr.K would of spoken to him about this being he still young & his MPB is sure to become a NW 6 in the future if he don't take some Meds.

I hope he does unless he be on a upward battle if he don't.

Yes I agree...

What I meant to say is maybe he try to take FIN but had SE & couldn't take it.

& its ideal for somebody so young to be on Fin esp prior & after HT with a MPB heading towards NW6.

This would help him for the future to preserve what he has left.

I would say it's ideal for 99 percent of the men who have a transplant to take fin. Once in a while you have that 55 years old nw2 that wants a bump in the hairline, but for the most part, it's best to be preventive.

I was watching Mickey Rourke boxing in his mid 30s with a full head of hair and now he's at least a nw4. Time is a funny thing.

Spanker I agree.

Somebody so young doing a HT without being on Meds is not good & setting themselfs for more heartbreak in the furure.

Time..

Its kinda sad that we only can talk about 2 or 3 Meds which may help people today.

When I was loosing my hair yrs ago I thought arrr don't worry so much there be somrthing around the corner & here I am some 25 yrs later thinking someone will pull a rabbit out there ass.

But at the end of the day its just friggen fungus on top of our heads.

As long as you got your health & family that's all what counts
