Finasteride/dutasteride and stopping medications before hair transplant

Hi, I was wondering if you had to stop Finasteride/dut before a hair transplant surgery?

I understand that I'll likely have to stop cyproterone and estrofem, but is dutasteride safe?

Also I should list all of my daily medication.

I'm currently taking

Dutasteride

Cyproterone acetate

Estrofem (estrogen pills).

You'd have to check with your doctor.

If you are on it already you may want to stay with it if it's working.

 

Restarting meds post-op can lead to sheds.

Hi Transhair

 

I take Dut and will carry on taking it as normal. The Dr im using advised me to take Fin through out and Minox up to two weeks prior to Ht.

 

On another note i ran low of dut ie spaced out my pills then went two weeks without, upon restarting i seemed to have had a little better response and put this down to becoming tolerant to the drug, therefore a rest has helped.

Was this fut or FUE? They might be different due to the techniques

Fue and it would be regardless to what surgery as Fin/Dut inhibits DHT the major part of hairloss. Not sure why surgeons advise to take it and minox prior to surgery for people that dont take or use these drugs.

I remember reading a post recently where one of the contributors mentioned that he had stopped finasteride before the HT in order to give the surgeon a "true representation" of his current state of hair loss. I tried to search for that thread but couldn't find it, sorry
