PRP/A cell 3400 Grafts with Dr. Cooley

My friends, this is my second HT with the results of the first one less than desirable. I decided to go for the second HT with Dr. Cooley for better coverage of mid scalp, hairline and vertex. Initially Dr. Cooley had planned for 2500 FU but he was able to harvest around 3400 FUs with strip method. My hair density / graft is 1.9 which I guess is pretty decent for an Indian male. I am now starting my post HT blog and posting some pictures of Dr. Cooley's work. As I am a vegetarian Dr. Cooley felt that I needed extra boost and he provided me some protein supplements to take post op (not the help hair shake but some other supplement developed by a researcher). He felt that I needed extra boost so he also gave me a treatment of PRP for better graft survival. I will also be starting Dr.s best opti-MSM.

Dr. Cooley distributed hair is a fashion: 300 1s both frontal sides for strengthening hair line.

- around 373 3's mid scalp

- 1590 2's and 1209 1's in diffuse distribution over vertex and rest of the gaps over the whole skull.

I am hoping for good results this time. I am not an expert in this field but I personally felt that Dr. Cooley did an excellent job while distributing grafts. All I can hope now is that these grafts grow into real hair.

Wish me luck my friends....

Hey buddy, congratulations on your HT. Per my limited experience your grafts look good. Though the pictures of the vertex are not very clear. May be you need to take pictures from more close up to have an idea of the density he is planning to give you there.

I have heard good things about Dr. Cooley but I am not too sure why HT surgeons are always conservative in providing density over the crown/vertex. May be a senior member can better evaluate your case. In any case wish you all the best bro. Hope you have a full head of hair in months to come. Cheers !

Hi Notpleasedpatient, he did not ask me to shave my head and that was one big plus for going to him because, the kind of profession I am in I can not afford to have my head shaved for a long time. I have a very social profession and have to meet a lot of people everyday which I can not do while wearing a cap.

Friends on the forum, please chime in and give your comments as to how do you u think the post transplant pictures look. Since its my second procedure I am very anxious and any suggestions would have a lot of soothing effect.

I especially request the more experienced members to give their input.

I will be updating my periodic progress on this forum.

Hi friends,

This is how it looks post op day 3. I have been spraying the liposomal ATP given by Dr, Cooley like crazy. There are 2 pictures one from the front and the other of the crown. I could not get a better picture of the crown of course because I was taking it my self.

Any comments????

Continuing the spray.... though I have decreased the frequency a little bit now.... from every 1-2 hours to every 3 hours. I am spraying now only twice at night compared to initial 2 days where I was waking up every 2 hours.

I have also started taking MSM 2 grams a day. Along with protein powder that Dr. Cooley gave (Not the help hair shake)

I am also taking daily iron with vitamin C and weekly Vitamin D 50000 IU

I am not on propecia or minoxidil though because I dont want to take any chances.

Any one here has any knowledge about MSM? Seems it grows hair faster but I did not find anything about it when I did a pubmed search.

Here are my post op 4 day pictures. Both frontal and crown.:

Guys any takers on my post? Opinions?

What do u think about how my pictures look?

I'm curious. I took 50000 IU once a week of Vitamin D for 8 weeks as part of a therapy regiment due to low Vitamin D levels. Now I take 2000 IU daily. Is yours a similar situation?

As far as your pics go, it's too early to tell. Who did the previous HT you were unsatisfied with, if you don't mind me asking.

If you go to International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and type in PRP in their search box...you'll get a great article on PRP and how effective it's been to help athletes with tissue improvement in order to help them with elbow, shoulder injuries, HOWEVER...there isn't enough evidence to confirm it helps with transplanted hair....

I would've invested the cost of PRP into more hair transplants...he couldn't helped grafts survive just by placing them in HypoThermosol...and it wouldn't have cost any extra.........

Post op 2 months:

Guys I need your help and advise.

First I feel that my left frontal hairline appears a little thinner now. I dont see any hair growth until yet. Do you guys think it could be shock loss. As far I was told was that the shock loss does not affect the transplanted hair. Is that true?

Also after my first hair transplant by 6 weeks I had started to develop follicultis and I was told that this is secondary to hair follicle activation but this time around, I see no evidence of that whatsoever. Also last time I had started to see some very fine hair by this time but I dont see any this time. Do you all think that the pattern of growth can be different between two different transplant procedures.

PS: I had PRP treatment the second time not the first time.

All your help and advise is highly appreciated!!

Hi all,

I have not seen much traffic on my thread but still will post some pictures.

It's 3 month update. The first picture is pretransplant (picture 9) picture 7 and 8 are current (3 month post op). I dont see any change in appearance but when I feel my scalp I can kinda feel a stubble like feeling diffusely. I can only hope that I can get the desired result as it's my second transplant.

secondtry,

Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress. At 3 months you really shouldn't see much in the way of growth. During the next few weeks you should begin to see significant changes.

Hang in there! Good things are on the horizon.
