Patient responded well to finasteride, and conservative grafting was used in the vertex. Patient hair length certainly contributed to the overall result. Regular Member BeardedOne Posted November 20, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted November 20, 2013 what a fantastic result given where he started. This seems to be an optimum combination of a HT and finasteride.
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted November 20, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted November 20, 2013 Excellent result! Also, I'm curious: What is the maximum number of grafts you've transplanted (via your FUE method using the NeoGraft with implanter pens) in one day? Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted November 21, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 21, 2013 3000 grafts is our maximum in one day. Exceeding this number exhausts both the patient and myself, and it is best to split a 4000 graft case into two days. Thanks for the comments! Lebaldino
Hi Vories I'm at almost as the same age as this guy (almost 27) and have a very similar kind of baldness, I started on fin a year ago and i think i?m responding well to it but i wanted to go further and now im using dutasteride. my question is if this guy is/was using minoxidil? and if i can do hair transplant at this age? his results are astonishing and i would like to do the same! Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted November 3, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 3, 2014 Thanks for the comments. For most or our patients I recommend combining finasteride with minoxidil before switching to dutasteride. As you probably know, the problem with minoxidil is compliance, and staying with applying it everyday can be difficult. Usually we suggest to apply it only at bedtime (if you normally shower in the morning), because water is a barrier to minoxidil. This allows 8 hours of dry scalp so the minoxidil can be absorbed by the skin.
