This is looking great. Congrats. The crown takes prob a good 12-15 months to come in fully.

It looks like you had 100% yield in the front, I think you will definitly need work down the line in the 'eyes and mouth patches as baldness is progressive and these islands of hair will not hold fully. You should have a good 3000+ left in the FUE bank though along with any crown touch up that may be required.

In terms of supplements etc I took:

Kelp first 8 months

Biotin tablets 8 months

Minoxidil Foam 8 months

I was advised to take minoxidil for 12 months however I found that my hair became too long for the foam as it ended up being greasy.

The crown is definitely getting better and the results so far are beyond what I thought they would be. I am not going to get any more procedures done is respect of the crown.

I took Kelp because I've heard it's good for hair over the years. Could be a load of rubbish, but my mum always swore by it, so it must be true right... ;-)

Kelp was just one a day tablets from an online vitamin store, can't remember which.

Didn't use Propecia. I tried it a few years ago and it didn't seem to do anything, so I stopped using it.

IMO, and obviously based on my results, Dr Demirsoy is absolutely brilliant at what he and his team do.

Hi mm015,

It is great to see how your result turned out. Nice coverage.

Dr. Demirsoy sends his greetings...

As the others said, if you don?t use medications like Finasteride and/or Minoxidil 5%, you hair loss will most likely continue and another session will become necessary a few years later.

Best wishes,

Merry Crimbo everyone!

On Jan 3rd it'll be exactly 12 Months to the day I had the op.

Here's the latest pics for you. Hope it helps everyone out who is browsing and contemplating getting it done!

CLEMENS - can you clarify something for me please...

I was told to take Monoxidil foam for 12 months post op. I obviously stopped for a little while but since your post where you told me to continue, I have done so.

Apart from the 12 Months of Minoxidil - is there anything else I should be taking? You mentioned Finisteride a few posts ago? And should I take minoxidil foam forever now? I originally was told I'd only need it for 12 Months?

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for updating. Great result.

Regarding medications:

For the first 6-12 months Dr. Demirsoy advises meds like Minoxidil to support the growth.

However, Minoxidil and Finasteride (Propecia) are both typical hair loss products, which can/should be used to maintain your native hair.

Theoretically they need to be taken continuously (forever) otherwise hair may continue to fall.

It is up to and your decision, but it would be it pity if your native hair, especially in the crown, falls in the near future.

Happy new year!

Clemens

Thanks Clemens, Looks like I"ll be on the meds then forever. No biggie I guess!

Hadenough2014 - sorry for missing your earlier question re curl. I guess I've always had a slight curl when it gets to a certain length. I've always had short hair and generally would have it cut around the time that the curl kicks in!

In terms of the Crown... during the consultation with Dr Demirsoy I asked if, with the number of hairs he would be transplanting, he would be able to cover the crown as well. He said I would need a further procedure to get full coverage.

However, he did say he would do a design which helps cover the crown when looking from behind, straight on and the sides. When viewed from the top, it is still obvious that I have loss there.

BUT, he did place some grafts onto the crown as it turned out he was able to extract more healthy grafts than originally thought. I'm not not sure how many were placed onto the crown in the end, but it has certainly made a massive improvement. I used to run my hand over the crown and I'd feel the skin, however now it feels just like a normal head of hair, albeit a slightly thinner one.

I know I've said it before, but everyday I wonder to myself what it would be like if I hadn't had the procedure done and it almost scares me to think that I was humming and harring over whether to go ahead! I am so glad I followed my instincts and went for it - it's gotta be one of the most significant and best decisions I've ever made.

Anyone who is contemplating it - absolutely do it. I promise you it'll have so many positives and no doubt change a lot of people lives for the positive :D

Happy New Year everyone. Live long and prosper! And grow hair.

;)

thats one of the best results I've seen for a diffused thinner and considering it didn't look like many grafts were placed in the crown it sure appears as tho there were. that a great result! and yes I agree Demirsoy is highly under rated.

forget the fact that his pricing is so cheap. his results speak for themselves.

Thanks for posting this man - just joined the forum and considering this surgeon. Great result for you. This has helped me make my mind up. thanks for sharing

Slightly concerned about needing to take finasteride for life post surgery - some horror stories out there about it. Cheers Man appreciate the work.

Hi all,

Thought I'd throw in another update 2 years and 2 months on.

These were taken directly under a light which highlights the whiteness on my head! previous photo's were taken away from a direct light. I've also got quite a bit of clay in my hair in these photo's.

As expected the crown is not thick, however it's still looking great overall.

Hi everyone,

So in 6 weeks it will have been 10 years to the day of my transplant!

As you can see, the donor hair has remained, however I have lost lost of my natural hair.

I'm considering another transplant to thicken things up.

I can see that since I had this done, prices are far more favourable as there are so many more doing the procedure now.

Anyway, I thought I'd offer a 10 year update for all those who followed this thread, from when I had the procedure.

All the best!
