FUE treatment without finasteride?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I am planing on going for a FUE procedure in the near future. However, I do not want to take finasteride. My hairloss seems to have stopped over the past 3 years. I know there is no way of knowing for sure what will happen in the future but right now, I am not losing more hair.

What is the general consensus on going for FUE but not taking any hairloss medication?

At 27 or 28 years old and a NW3V, the general consensus is that it is will hurt you long term and your should plan your HT accordingly. This means a conservative hairline and you should probably leave the center of the crown alone too. Most hair docs prefer you to be on finasteride for prevention. Hairloss rarely ever stops....ever. Even people on finasteride usually progress some, but the speed of progression is really the question. There was another thread like this today. Generally, I feel it is a bad idea, and the younger the patient, the worse of an idea it is. So, I guess the most important thing about being a patient who is not on meds is to be prepared for a touch up sooner and ration your donor.
