mab617
Hey All -- I'm a long time reader and infrequent poster but am planning to make a decision very soon on which path to take. Dr. Lorenzo seems to be the best that I've seen in terms of yield from larger FUE sessions. That said, it's hard for me to separate his artistic ability from his ability to extract and implant for optimal growth because he's generally doing much larger cases where hairline design often appears to take a back seat to coverage. Based on conversations with many surgeons, I estimate that I'll need in the neighborhood of 2,500-2,800 grafts for this first procedure, but given my age (26), I expect that I'll need at least 1-2 more procedures over the course of my life. In my opinion, Dr. Rahal is the best that I've seen in terms of hairline restoration/design, which what my first procedure will cover. That said, getting optimal yield out of the grafts taken will be key as I'm planning for the long haul and there's no doubt that Dr. Lorenzo is the best in the world at that for FUE. I just can't tell if he's the best overall in the mid-size cases like mine. Do you guys have any thoughts on this? Another thing to keep in mind is that price/travel is not an issue at all for me. I'm still also halfway considering FUT with Rahal given the consistency of his results, but even he's now claiming only a 5% difference in yield between his FUT vs FUE results. So torn... I've attached a picture for reference. Really appreciate any feedback. Also, anyone have any idea what Lorenzo's backlog is like given the switch to the UK? Senior Member KO Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 The more and more I look at the results of FUE, the more and more I want to get it done. I don't regret having my strip surgery at all, and I don't want to downplay those who choose to do it, as there are many valid reason s to still have it. However, I really like how FUE has evolved into its own surgery that has withheld the test of time and now gives people additional options for whatever reasons. I like 2 things best about it: 1) You can focus on the larger graft sizes 2) You can dip your toe in and proceed step by step rather than having a giant surgery. That being said, I think for older men, with stable balding patterns, and strong donor, along with moderate loss, there is no reason to do FUE when one strip pass will do. 3382 FUE Lupanzula http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/185463-3382-grafts-lupanzula.html

Senior Member Injertocapilar.com Posted January 11, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted January 11, 2014 Video: 42 year old patient with and advanced pattern of hair loss, short donor area, but with 58 to 71 microns of thickness and multiple follicular group or families. The amazing recovering of his donor after the procedures has let us to carry out 4 surgeries with one-year gap approximately. He’s only using minoxidil. The follicular groups let us use the splitting technique, and although we know that entails a lower average hair per graft (less than 2 hair/graft), allows us to face larger areas, with less traces in the donor. The thickness of his hair achieves the optical sensation of coverage. 1st surgery: 3111 FU’s (0.75 mm punch; 5599 hairs; 1.8 hairs/graft); 2nd surgery: 3003 FU’s (0.75 mm punch, 5405 hairs; 1.8 hairs/graft); 3rd surgery: 2334 FU’s (0.8 mm punch; 4408 hairs; 1.88 hairs/graft; 4th surgery (0.85 mm punch; 3031 hairs; 1.95 hairs/graft). Senior Member delancey Posted January 12, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted January 12, 2014 The patient appears to be a Norwood 6 (not a Norwood 7); nonetheless, this is a magnificent result, one of the best I have ever seen. I wish we saw more cases like this with blonde hair. Very happy for the patient. One question: will this patient be able to buzz his hair down to 2 mm, considering that so many fu were extracted? Cheers! I am not a medical professional and my words should not be taken as medical advice. All opinions and views shared are my own.
