My FUT today with Dr. Paul Shaprio

So yes!! I have been in Europe for the last month, so I haven't really been active on the forums as of lately. I will be here for the next nearly two months also, so once again, I may not be extremely active. Luckily though, this is the period during which I'm not really expecting much to happen. However, yesterday was my 2 month hairnaversary, so I feel it is time for a photo update. I think I can safely say that I survived the ugly duckling phase. My recipient is almost back to normal, and I think I can see some hairs starting to grow in (although I'm not exactly sure if it's native hair or transplanted hair). I am still having paranoid thoughts of, "Omg what if I'm that odd guy that responds horribly to a hair transplant, and all of this time, money, and emotion is in vain". I'm trying to be as optimistic as possible for the future, but I am naturally a person who panics.

I tried to take the best pics I could by myself, however if they aren't good enough, I can have one of my friends take them for me again. I look forward to hear what you guys have to say

Glad to know that you're in Europe and that the room in your photos isn't your bedroom! I would insist that I help you out with your decorating if it was! Hahahaha, I tease, I tease!

Looking awesome so far buddy. At least you're to the point where there is no evidence that you had a procedure done, and once it starts growing you are going to be one VERY happy camper! WOOHOO! You're going to come back from Europe and your friends and family aren't going to quite recognize you and the new hair you're sporting. You went to Dr. Shapiro.....so you are not going to be one of those "odd guys" that you mentioned. Enjoy your vacation and stop panicking! =)

Glad to see you hit your 2 month today. "Hairnaversary"? I LIKE IT!! Can't wait to see your 3 month update. 2 1/2 months is when things first started to get going for me......so wishing the same for you, and hoping you are enjoying your time abroad!

Thanks for the update pal!

Happy growing!

Mike

Yeah, actually getting my hairplant at the time was actually part of my overall plan. People tend not to notice progressive change, but they are much more likely to notice abrupt changes. Extensive hairloss these past few years is all people have known me as. If I come back to Europe with a lot more hair, they are much more likely to appreciate my decision for doing it.

Plus, yeah. the French have a very particular, old-fashioned, sense of decoration. Not at all my style, but I try to live with it!! haha

Hahaha for sure. Although my experience with hair restoration......considering it IS a gradual change......is that people don't seem to notice what it is about you that's actually changing. You wouldn't believe how many people still don't notice it's my hair that's different......and I was pretty advanced in my loss!!! I still get the "have you been working out?" or the "what are you using on your skin?", before I ever get hair recognition! Which is A-OKAY with me!! Guess it just goes to show you, that a lot of people (at least close friends and family) don't let hair loss dictate how they see you as a person. We are the ones who really let it affect us negatively!! At any rate, when you get back from Europe, you (and your family) will have something to celebrate!!

Congrats again!!

2 months is really a low point for most. It should be up here from here, with a small improvement from here to 4 months and then from 4 to 8 or so, you will see the greatest change.

For those of you who are tracking my progress, I am updating you a couple days shy of my three month hairnaverary. Reason being, I am heading to Copenhagen, Denmark to visit a friend tomorrow morning and won't be back until well after my three months. Anyway:

So, I have noticed quite a bit of growth so far, although I'm not sure as to how much of it is transplanted hairs. I notice that the micro-irregularaties are beginning to sprout, as you can see in the macro photo that we took. However, they are still very short and I am not convinced that they are what is adding to my overall dense look (yet). Let me know what you guys think

As most people who have already gotten a hair-transplant, you can understand my excitement and anxiety as I now enter into the growth/maturity phase. I don't sit around all day thinking about it, but I do like to take looks in the mirror as I apply minoxidile foam.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think. I took a set inside, and a set outside so you could get an idea of what it looks like under different settings. If the photos aren't good, I'll see if I can't take more.

:)

:) I can't wait!! I am lucky that I have been severely distracted with my European trip! Otherwise, I would be looking in the mirror 500 times a day. Mostly when I look in the mirror, I am looking at how blended my hair is and making sure I am not an ugly ducking! However, I think it's fairly safe to say that I have left that stage, although I still consider myself an ugly duckling :)

A subtle improvement on last month but the majority of the hairs are still in resting, just ready to start popping in the next few months. That's what I keep having to tell myself too :)

A subtle? Are we talking about overall look of the hair, or growth? I think it's a significant improvement in the overall look of the hair. Last month it was really thin. At least, that's what I was feeling.

I am sure we will see an amazing result here. Your hair looks really good and must say I like the design of your hair line. I know it was an issue to you but it seems to fit you very well and as already said, hair lines can always go down...if necessary! I am following your journey! Congrats!

An amazing experience (4002 grafts) with Dr. Koray Erdogan (ASMED Clinic).

Thank you for your kind words!! I am still a little bit worried about the hairline, especially when I see pictures like I posted here that make it seem much larger than I'd like it. Time will tell, I'm not worried about it too much right now

I'm going to keep updating, so yes, keep an eye on my progress :)

Sorry about being a little absentminded with my updates. I have great intentions, but my schedule has been a little hectic these last few months. I was in Europe from June 24th-September 14th, so I've had quite a few things occupying the relatively small amount of brain power I am capable of producing. That said, here is my update:

Since month three I have experience an explosion of growth. If you look at my pre-op photos compared to my 4 month photos, it's a little ridiculous. To be faire, I'm not exactly sure that the hair lengths are similar, or the lighting used in this set for month four. Nevertheless, I am quite happy with the coverage on the top of my head. I hope you all agree.

Now, my hairline. I am a little nervous about it. The density is severely lacking and there is quite a large difference in density between the right and left side (with the left side being significantly morem dense than the left. There are also other regions of my frontal 1/3rd thath have uneven growth compared to surrounding areas. I know it's still early in the transplant, but I'm starting to get nervous since the whole point was to reinforce the hairline and establish density elsewhere. I feel like so far, the results are turning into opposite of what I was hoping to happen. I'm staying positive though. I am cognizant that I am pulling the trigger too early.

The photo update consists of lighting from my bedroom and photos taken by me. I will maybe see if I can't get someone else to take a few pictures in more harsh lighting. All in all, I feel as though the lighting is fair; not too bright, not too dim. Nevertheless, the real results must be able to stand up to bright lights.

Let me know what you guys think of the photos and the overall progress of the transplant. Feel free to comment on the unevenness of the densities between the right and left.

Looks like a nice change Nick! I think those hairs rest between 2-6months on average so there's bags of time for it to even up.

1,145 FUE grafts (3,152 hairs) with Ray Konior, MD - August 2018

Nick, I totally hear you...uneven end result can be a nightmarish situation (I am myself nervous thinking about an uneven outcome).....but to be really honest it is not looking bad or odd. At this stage, there is a big improvement in your appearance and I am sure it would look even more better if the densities on either side match but when I looked at the pics first time I did not see a huge difference b/w the sides.....let me say it this way "nothing jumped out as unusual" rather I was happy to see your hair growth. I know this period is unnerving for you and I will go through it myself very soon but man we have no other option than to hang in there.

Big improvement. As I have told someone before, it seems more unusual for things to grow in symmetrically than to grow in uneven at first. Looks so much better, you appear to be well through the ugly duckling phase.

I agree....think you are on the way to a fantastic approach. My hairline density did not come along evenly either, but it all eventually catches up. You are still in early stages of growth and already have a lot, so no worries :)
