The Ultimate Doctor Radha Experience

Prologue:

There are people out there, who make a living by playing with other peoples’ emotions…..extracting money from the prey, giving them false hope. And before a person realises this, another prey gets caught in the net and the cycle continues. This is how the homeopathy /hair oil industry thrives here in India.Good in concept, but placebo sugar pills, grease or concoction of herbs supposedly collected from jungles wont block 5Alpha- Reductase......and grow your hair back!!!!!!!!(For 2 yrs,I was continuously conned…..errr…….treated by a popular homeopathy chain clinic with negative result).

I am an ex-software engineer ,now going for a Master’s Degree in Engineering, determined to make my contribution in the field of technology(Information Security) through research and implementation.I come from administrative/medical backgrounds and trivial things like hair or the lack of it shouldn’t have bothered me.But it did!!! I was balding by 18(I was already blessed with a large protruding forehead) and I looked odd with the clean shaven look(also attracted unnecessary stares and comments)! .It made me uncomfortable…….I wasn’t obsessed with hair;I just hated my big forehead becoming even bigger!!!!

For those who came in late,I had 3 small futs in the past(2005-2 procedures,2007-1 procedure).I didn’t get good density(20-30 grafts per cm square). But still I got good coverage due to my coarse and wavy hair.In 2012,I had a scar revision with the same clinic because,in the past three sessions, the clinic didn’t perform tricophytic closure and the scar was huge(Laser was used ,and the smell of my burnt skin almost made me threw up).It was my father’s wish that I go to the same clinic for scar revision in 2012.I don’t think I need to explain to you guys about my stupidity, lack of research, about the clinic……….I’m guilty as charged.

Meanwhile,I started my research in 2011 visiting online forums (3 popular forums inclusive of this) and various local and international clinics’ websites.I came to know about state of the art ht.

Before my scar revision in 2012, I already decided that If I go for a repair/dense packing , I would go to a clinic that produces the best natural result with my own savings. And on May 2,2013…….I didn’t regret my decision …….

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DR.RADHA :

In March 2013,I emailed my pics to Dr. Radha.Promptly and requested for a consultation date. And after exchanging mails,She agreed to do a repair on 2nd of May ……if it is necessary after a consultation on the first of May.I was advised to start my scalp exercise 30 mins a day. So,She blocked 2nd of May for me…And She told me that I don’t need to deposit an advance…..seeing my condition, she felt bad........

Dr.Radha is very polite, professional and kind with no attitude........(She has a habit of knocking the door while entering the room )simply amazing……On the first of May,I met her at 4 pm IST .We discussed all the possibilities. She told me my scalp laxity is very high, given that I already had 3 ,procedures and a scar revision. She explained me the consequences----scar might stretch over time. She examined my transplanted hair(the hairline design/angulation density).I also explained to her that my hairloss has stabilized in the past 5 yrs and I am responding well to finasteride 1 mg.She said we can expect 1000 grafts…or less than that…..She explained that the original ht was done by some other clinic and advised me to keep my expectation low as “I cannot make a remarkable difference,as the skin is already damaged and now its like a coir mattress”(sic)…I had no clue how would be the angulation of the new grafts……We talked for sometime, and I was given instructions .She told me ,in case I lost more hair,I had to undergo fue in the future……..I gave her 10k INR in advance. She smiled. She told……I could give her the total after the surgery.Anways,I gave her the advance money in cash and left.(No consultation fee was charged).

In the evening,I messaged her …..I wanted maximum no of grafts as she seemed fit ….I used pressure tactics on her .She replied, she would do her best.

The OP:

I came at 8.30 am IST and was greeted by Santosh and a Lady Technician. After some time,Deepika came and did my HIV and Hepatitis Test and charged me INR 500 for it.She measured my BP and gave me my medicines. She is a delightful person, very chatty. And Later I signed the agreement. She explained all my doubts before I signed.

At 9.30 am ,DR.Radha came and I was escorted by Santosh to the changing room(Shampoo room).

Then, I was escorted by Deepika to the OT room.It was well equipped and can handle emergency.

Dr.Radha and 3 assistants(worked in turns) on my head. She administered the anaesthesia herself and removed the strip using single blade. Then ,suturing was done .It took more time than I expected.I went for a break. When I came back, ujjwala took me back to the OT andI saw 6 techs working on stereo microscopes simultaneously without much talking…one of them explained how it is done …..It was time for the site making.I already requested Dr Radha to shave off the recipient area (It makes the work faster and efficient……….learnt from previous exp……and I wanted to see the transplanted area!!!!)Dr.Radha and a tech were carefully counting the sites as they made them………It was over by 1.30…..I was taken for a lunch break by santosh….I ate the lunch ordered from hotel tycoon……After lunch DR.Radha told me, they got 1847 grafts in total…….HURRAY!!!!!!!!

And the grafts were placed……………by DR,Radha and the team…….There was another lady who spoke with an accent that I found it hard to understand. She constantly told me to keep my chin down!!!!She did a great job……..DR.Radha’s Team is a no nonsense team……(not like the AVENGERS :P).However,Dr.Radha and me discussed before and she decided not to touch the hairline……..

By 4 pm ,Everything got over………I was back in the consultation room…..I had no body weakness .

She showed me the grafts break ups into 1’s, 2’s and 3’s……I didn’t have 4’s.

And she charged me for 1800…After receiving the post op instructions,I started asking her various questions. She answered all of them….We discussed various issues….WOW!!!!!!!!IShe is very open and is really an ethical surgeon!!!!!!!I was really impressed with her point of views…….(Actually ,I interviewed her after the surgery )……

Santosh helped me with the transportation…..I came back the next day for shampoo……On the fifth day,I had to come back after suture removal….It was quick and painless…DR.Radha did it so fast……

We chatted for sometime, she answered my further queries………I shook her hand in gratitude and said goodbye to her and the staff.I returned to the hotel by 10 .am.

Accomodation:

Dr Radha booked the hotel for me for 7 days. The Hotel Budhil Park,at Dwarka Nagar, is a good 3 star hotel…..The Ladies at the reception are very friendly…..We chatted a lot…..everytime when I used to come down……The rest of the staffs are good too…..but they have problem with HINDI and even English….the breakfast is complimentary at blue diamond from 7.30 am to 10.30 am……The breakfast is superb……Complimentary fruits are delivered at lunch time too.The Room(Deluxe) was very cosy with good lighting .The Room service is excellent and the food is great and so is the quantity.The bathroom is little cramped and dark…..a glass compartment/enclosure separates the shower from the toilet.Caution:Don’t bang your head into the glass……However, the wifi is very slow…..its 4/5 for me

Transportation:

I used autos for transport…..they are not metered……I was charged 30 RS each time for going to the clinic ……another 30 for coming back .I could have bargained for 20…….But ,I didn’t…..It was ok with me.The autowallahs may try to charge you more……but dont pay them too much out of kindness. For Airport,I used Crazycabs…..at 400 rs…..for drop and rs 445 for pick up……

Vizag:

Wonderful Port City……People are simple and kind.Everyone ,I met there were good and chatty.

I was treated quite well, since I am from Bangalore …….I didn’t expect This!!!!!

SUMARY:

Now coming to RHIIT,

1.The clinic is well equipped ,organised in terms of equipment and manpower

2.Dr.Radha keeps track of the latest development…..in HT technology

3.No charge for Post-op medication, lunch or absorbable sutures!!!

4.One surgery per day and this is not going to change!!!!

5.Dr.Radha doesn’t endorse any particular pharmaceutical brand.

6.Pencil thin scar.

7.No extra charge for repair case

Epilogue:

I am staying in my room……..trying to focus on my work……..but I m careful with my hair too…..Eagerly waiting for DR.RADHA to send me the photos and grafts break ups(or do we say break down????.....duh?????)……..

Its hot here in Bangalore…….so trying to avoid working up a sweat…….My scalp doesnt feel vey tight…….This is a good sign

Thanks all for Reading………I love this forum……….Will keep you updated with the photos

Thank you RIIHT and Hair Restoration Network……….

Quite elaborate one. How did u manage to know names of the entire staff man. I think im quite an introvrt. She is really a v nice and humble lady. I was in vizag on vacations ht wasnt planned it just happened. U did a lot of research I didnt bother to that as well.i found rhiit accidentally while I was roaming around with a bald friend of mine. We met her n she checked my fnds playground which is quite big as compared to mine.till that time I wasnt sure that I m going to get it done.she asked us to check this forum for further information on ht.this is how I came to know abt dr radha. Finally I decided to go for it when all the relatives started saying "ganja ho gaya hai". Now im eagerly waiting for the results. All the best happy growinh

dvarun,

You are extremely lucky to discover RIIHT by chance!

Mine is not a regular case, but a repair case.In the past I had mini micro grafting, and thus lots of large , unnatural grafts can be seen behind my hairline. Those days, stereo microscopes were not used.....they used magnifying loupes with 3x magnification.....I know from my donor area size that lots of my donor hair ended up in the waste bin.....

Don't worry, your confidence will return soon in some months!!!!!!

Happy growing and relax......you are lucky to have undergone an fut.......under dr R,......who is very skilled.

Many celebrities end up having free/discounted surgeries in clinics and they look funny ......

Your new hair is going to be very natural looking.....:)

Please do that once u have it !

I had discussion with Dr Radha once though she sounded knowledgable I thought after a point she becomes a little irritable to prove who is the Dr kind of thing, I started asking questions to her and though she said I don't mind answering it but she said reading on the Internet will give you what only about 5% knowledge about HT with that you cannot compete with a HT surgeon on what best practices does she adopt ! Which kind of disappointed me a bit. I thought she was not open with someone getting too much in detail about the HT Procedure !

Thank you David,Blake and dvarun for your wishes......and I will posting pre -op,post op pics which were taken by Dr. Radha soon.....Also,I will be posting 1 month post op,,4 months post op and 8 months post op pics in the future.....

As this is a repair case and not an original Dr.Radha's work( she transplanted around the minigrafts and the angulation had to slightly match the previous transplant),the result would ,obviously, be different from her signature style....,But after the surgery itself,I could see that transplanted areas were looking dense and natural. As stated above ,we decided not to make any changes to the hairline..

I came across this forum a bit late ,after my 3rd small procedure, but I am still happy  that i found it!!!!!!!

I spoke with Dr. Radha before. Knowledgeable, pleasant. She probably gets many calls a day from people like us that think we know everything about hair transplants. ALL doctors I have spoken with have some degree of confidence/arrogance (imho, Radha was confident though, and did not cross that line into arrogance).

The only fault I could find in my communications with her, if any, was that she is pro strip by far. Kind of like Hasson and Wong. Does that make them any less than a world class clinic? no. This is something that a lot of clinics push (strip) including Feller, who performs both.

Greetings To All,

Come September 2nd,2013 ,I will be posting Hi-Resolution Pics of 4 months post op(From my previous experiences,I know that I can see noticeable growth by the 4th month) and also the ones which Dr.Radha had taken pre-op and immediately post op.It will be interesting to see how Dr.Radha's placement of grafts makes a difference to my frontal region which was messed up(by way of mini-micro grafting, low density & wrong angulation) by a "Celebrity Hair Transplant Surgeon".

I had a great experience with Dr. Radha. I also stayed in Budhil Park hotel and I found it decent (great food but no wifi in room). My room was facing the school next door so not much of a view.

I do think she gets a bit annoyed with all the "know-it-alls" who try to tell her how to do her job. I got that impression when I pressed her for a detailed graft estimate (via email). She is an absolutely wonderful person though and she never asked for payment until after surgery.

Thanks agenteye ......

Greetings every1,

Its three months post my Fut session with Dr.Radha!!!And I'm delighted.....No....no.....I'm not having an early growth....But,I'm happy how the scar turned out....Well,I had a huge scar from multiple sessions with a plastic surgeon which was quite low(Not flattering as told by many....Were the surgeon and the nurses playing tic-tac-toe on my head?? :o)So,...Dr.Radha had to incise the strip a little higher to get moderate no. of grafts(after discussing the options)...The two scars are very close ....which will be merged into one later...

I'm yet to post high res photos starting from Day Zero .I will do @ 4 months mark....For now,I'm posting my 3 months post op photos(low res)

Thanks

.....No....no.....I'm not having an early growth....

I disagree. It could be the lighting or the angle in your most recent photos; but compared to your pre-op photo you posted early on in your thread, I think your hair already is looking much better! From the profile shots you took and posted in your 3 month post-op photos, you can't tell you have any hair loss at all. I think all is looking great so far. Likewise, I am happy to hear that your scar was revised to your satisfaction. The next 3 months are going to be very exciting for you in terms of growth. Looking forward to watching your case progress, and thanks for the update!

Best,

Mike

Agenteye,I m hoping the best in the coming months...

Well,my native hair grows horizontal to the scalp surface and the previously transplanted hair were at very high angles if not vertical....There was no re-inforcement near/of the hairline....There were gaps between my native and transplanted hair(so i used to comb my tranplanted hair side-ways).1800+ grafts were transplanted there..It was a tricky affair while transplanting...so i requested Dr.Radha to shave off the frontal region completely before the procedure

Yes,I agree there might be some improvement....but I can still see the gaps when i look in the mirror...But,I can feel new roots coming out!!!!Thats the good part :)

That hair cut/style definitely suits you. Before long, you won't have to be "hiding" anything at all!! Did you tell your stylist that you had a transplant? If not.....you should not say anything, and see if he or she notices if there is anything different about your hair when you finally do return. My cousin cuts my hair, or I would have played this "game" on her.....although with my level of loss, it would have been quite obvious!:D

Unfortunately, the donor scar gave it all away.:(..however,due to my hair characteristics they cant spot the mini/micros :)...My stylist even suggested a hair-pack session with the salon for hair re-growth in the donor area....I politely refused with an evil grin :)...

Well, you do look smart now with the short and dry hairstyle..:)...minus the terrible scar...

Hair isnt a big deal in itself anyway;but the lack of it is.BIG TIME!!!

In my case,I whole-heartedly refuse to acknowledge that "HT is just a cosmetic procedure" :I was born with a big protuding forehead(Weirdly Curved Frontal region with large surface area) and very high hairline .To add to my woes,I started losing hair along the hairline by 18.If I were in a parallel universe where HT is unknown,I would definitely have been a grumpy guy with shaved head and a cap(On 24/7,except while sleeping of course).HT has given me a new life.

RECAP:I had 3 strip sessions (and a scar revision)with DR.Khanna(current president,AHRS,India) between 2005 and 2007.

RESULT:Bad hairline Design/aggresive.True FUSS not performed.Doubles in the hairline/Wrong Angulation/Charged lump sum by no of hair follicles rather than grafts.Density achieved =20-30/cm^2.

In March 2013,I made a list of docs to consult for an FUSS in India.(I didnt consider DR.Bhatti as he does FUE and I'm not his FUSS fan.I started with strip and my budget was limited ,so FUSS was a natural choice)

The List was like this:

1.DR.Radha

2.DR.Madhu

3.DR.A ,and

4.DR.Sanjiv Vasa

I contacted the first two docs and decided on DR.Radha based on her Analysis+Results+Ethics+Policy+Trainning

1840 FUGs were transplanted in the frontal region to increase the density to ~50/cm^2 on May 2nd,13.

I'm 17 weeks post HT.The Thickening Process has started!I wish I had gone to DR.Radha (or Madhu or Bhatti ) in the first place....But still,I'm happy with the progress!!! I can style my hair now.

What do you guys think?

(Declaration:I'm not working for DR.Radha .I'm a genuine patient. The credit for the result doesnt go to DR.Radha entirely. But She played a Major role in the "FIX".I'm satisfied with the growth and also her donor zone selection and closure too.The growth started kicking in at 3.5 months post ht.The After photos are at 17 weeks plus.Still ,i cant find my DSLR camera,so m using a basic CANON IXUS 12.1 Mpx for the time being.)

Any Comments,guys?

Looks excellent! I notice in another thread you said that you've exhausted your donor supply. Has your hair loss stabilized? Was Dr. Radha able to excise the old strips scars and create one thin scar?
