Senior Member Capelli11 Posted March 31, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 31, 2013 Hey everyone I wanted to share that apparently generic propecia has hit the market. I was refilling my propecia when the pharmacist said that will be $10. I was like what?? It normally comes to like $200! He said that propecia is now generic. I was pretty happy about that but also a little concerned too. Would the generic brand be as effective as propecia even if it is deemed to be the same ingredients (1 mg finesteride)??? I guess it would but I am a little worried to mess with what has worked thus far. Does anyone have any advice??? Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted March 31, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted March 31, 2013 Hi Cap, Yup, Propecia is officially generic in the US! The generic medication contains the same active ingredient (1 mg finasteride), and will be just as effective. Senior Member Spanker Posted April 1, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted April 1, 2013 any thoughts of what the loss of the .25 will do? it would be nice to not cut the pill but I wonder what the change in dose will do. Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted April 2, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted April 2, 2013 Bmore, Any physician can technically write a prescription. However, I think it would be worthwhile to visit a physician with some experience with hair loss and undergo a scalp evaluation and discussion about the medication. Good luck! Senior Member SugarHighs Posted April 11, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted April 11, 2013 I've still been insisting on the brand name Propecia. It's more expensive, but I have never trusted generics. I used to take Wellbutrin for my ADHD, and in spite of the same ingredients, most of the generics were shit.

Arhhh the lasercomb....some Docs highly recommend it, however i have never used it but have been close to buying one a few times. In fact i think a Doc posted on here in response to a thread recently praising the lasercomb:confused: May work for others i guess.
