Donor hair line crease - how to conceal?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

On Wednesday I had my hair transplant and my hair was a little longer than half an inch in the back before the strip was removed.

It's now Sunday and I'm seeing a crease in the hair line in the back of my head. My wife thinks it's because the area around the strip that was removed was shaved slightly, so the hair isn't "flowing" into the below hair.

I bought some Xfusion, which didn't seem to help cover things up - but maybe I didn't apply enough to blend the crease together.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Any other tips?

I was hoping the procedure would be discrete and no one would no... but I'm sure some jerk will notice and comment on the line... and worse, maybe touch the area and see the staples, which will be there for another week.

Let me know your thoughts/advice.

Thanks

Your wife is probably correct. You may also experience some shock loss in the donor. Have some dermmatch handy..... however that won't cover the crease. Check out my old thread with pictures on this topic.

You are only a couple days out. Give it a few months before everything looks normal again.

As for explaining the crease, just say you gave yourself a bad haircut.

If you have a crease on the surface of your hair - kind of like a dip - it maybe due to a closure that was not smooth.

It may even out over time or it may not.

I also have this crease or indentation on the plane of the hair at back, that becomes more obvious at certain hair lengths.

I was told that it was due to the surgeon not anticipating the degree of sink expected on all strip scars and using the wrong pressure when tying the sutures.

(Note, they try to raise the scar line initially, allowing for some sink but sometimes, it sinks too much, or not enough.)

Still, I've had staples and also have sunken areas along the line.

Hopefully, it will smooth out.
