What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Recommended Posts

Scalp micropigmentation or SMP (the process of tattooing the scalp to promote an appearance of naturally growing hair) is becoming an increasingly popular procedure for balding men, especially those who’d like to maintain a closely cropped head of hair with an appearance of stubble. This intriguing procedure is frequently used to camouflage widened scars from previous hair transplant strip procedures. However, some hair transplant surgeons have begun utilizing this procedure to aid in thickening the appearance of naturally thinning or transplanted hair. But is scalp micropigmentation for everyone? What are the benefits, limitations and practical usage of this procedure? Is scalp micropigmentation a viable alternative to hair transplant surgery?

Scalp micropigmentation isn't a new procedure, but due to its increase in popularity, some hair restoration physicians have begun to investigate and even incorporate it into their practice as an adjunct to today's state of the art hair transplant surgery. Scalp Micro pigmentation (SMP) is a cosmetic medical grade tattoo that lowered the contrast between the color of the scalp and the color of the hair so that the scalp cannot be easily seen through the hair. It can be done with thousands of very small dots place in the scalp between the hairs. This is very effective in:

· Treating thinning hair

· Balding in a shaved scalp taking on the appearance of a bold look

· For the treatment of scalp scars caused by previous surgeries or skin diseases.

Scalp Micropigmentation (medical hairline tattoo) is the ultimate in non-surgical male and female scalp grooming; an incredible life-changing treatment where natural pigments are applied at the epidermal level of the scalp to replicate the natural appearance of real hair follicles or strands – depending on your hair loss extent, and desired look.

Scalp Micropigmentation is suitable for all types and stages of hair-loss, on all ages, colours and skin types.
