Hair Loss at 23. PLEASE help me out! Pic included

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am 23 yr old and I am loosing my hair since I was 18. I have a very dry scalp with white deposits. I tried shaving my head but the deposits reappear in few months.

They are thick deposits closely attached to the skin so if I comb or scratch them, hair in that area come out along with the deposits.

My hairs are very thin and dry. If I comb or run a hand, many hairs come out every-time.

I have lost a lot of hairs and tried using ketoconazole shampoo and fungal infection cream on a doctor's recommendation but nothing worked.

At this stage I am very confused what to do. I will really appreciate if any member can help me out with the situation here.

Thanks

Hi

I am no expert. I'm 23 and in the last 2.4 years Propecica (1 pill a day) plus minoxidil rubbed in everyday has combated my haiross so well. I'm having a 2000 graft transplant on my hairline later this month (Dr Feller, NY) to fix what couldn't be saved..........however if you try the drugs I said, it should help so much!

** I wrote a book called Beating Hair Loss.

** It's available for FREE for 5 days at the start of August on Amazon kindle. Also available in paperback edition.

** Search for 'Beating Hair Loss' by Anthony Gambino on Amazon **

Travelled to New York from the UK for 2000 grafts in the hairline/front third region with Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. Very happy with my results.

Propecia daily

12.5% minoxidil once daily

5% Kirkland minoxidil foam a few times per week

Avodart once/twice per week

Hey man , For now get on Finasteride 1 mg Monday - wednesday - friday

use nizoral shampoo 1 time weekly and use minox(rogaine) 2 times a day. Its your best bet in combating MPB.. im 25 now been aware of my balding since i was 23...the meds have helped me keep what I have so far. Nothing works in weeks , give the big three at least a year and see where you are at. Good luck man , don't fret to much about it ...

Couldn't agree more. I think the drugs have reversed a couple of years loss for me in the space of 3 months, hopefully there is more to come in the next 9 months.

I used to get a bit of flakeness but Nizoral once every 5 days seems to eliminate most of it

Your hair loss pattern looks very similar to mine, and it is certainly the age I started losing mine..Im 38 now...look at my photos..you can get hold of your hair loss, but its gonna take more than shampoo..you need minox and propecia ASAP...take that for a few years and then consider a HT if you so choose..first thing is to get the loss stopped!

You need to see a hair specialist or dermatologist in person. The most common causes of flaky dry skin are seborrhea and psoriasis but they don't usually cause hair loss. Finasteride and Minoxidil are great for slowing AGA (genetic hair loss) but AGA involves shrinking hairs not shedding hairs.

You need to get an accurate assessment and diagnosis before anyone can recommend the best treatment.

I used to have what you had. It certainly sounds like sebhorrhea to me. I'm surprised Nizoral did not work, but I suggest Neutrogena T/Gel. It's what got rid of it for me.

Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily

Avodart 0.5 mg. daily

Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily

5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily

Biotin 1000 mcg daily

Multi Vitamin daily

Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? :D

psoriasis does not cause hair loss. T-Gel may help with psoriasis, but he clearly has MPB as wel. He needs to start finasteride 1mg daily. Not Monday, wednesday, Friday. Do it every day. The drug is supposed to be taken consistently (as in daily)
