Awesome, man. It's nice that you were able to get your doctor to prescribe this. I had to order GSK Avodart from overseas (UK.) I have some Dr Reddy's dutas from inhousepharmacy, and the general consensus is that this is legitimate, but I'm sold on the genuine article.

I see this study was conducted in Australia - which is where I've recently emigrated to.

Are GPs in Australia currently willing to prescribe Avodart for hair loss? My new GP here didn't mention it, he just wrote me a prescription for generic finasteride 5mg with instructions to cut the tablets in quarters.

I found the first two pages of the publication online free. Attached is the page that shows the pictures from the study. Vertex appears to have had almost complete re-growth in this single-person study.

In my single study, I have not had complete regrowth in crown. I really do think it has cometely halted my loss though:)

An academic PDF seems fine. I'll leave this for now!

Think I might give this a go. Dr Feller wouldn't touch my crown due to my age and potential shock loss, so I'm thinking this could be the way to go for me to boost the crown and mid scalp up a bit. The HT should sort out the hairline, but I could do with a bit extra back there - mainly due to bright lights.

Anyone got any reports on how it worked for their crown/mid scalp?

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

Well, I've partly answered my own question ... today I asked my GP about Avodart (dutasteride) and he said he was reluctant to prescribe it for hair loss because he didn't know enough about it. He suggested I find a trichologist or hair specialist and see if they were prepared to prescribe it.

What do the drug manufacturers say about taking these two drugs together. Is it safe?

One of the counter-indications of Dutasteride is to NOT take it with Propecia. So I am not sure how the docs in this study reconciled that. They may have said "**** it," or had the patients willingness to be a guinea pig, or some combination of the two.

Well I did give a try to fin for 1 month but due to horrible sides i stopped it. I felt i had nothing down there (feeling embarrassed) and believe me i had no stress or hype about its hype as i was very confident as the effects will go once stopped so why not take the risk ?

In the case of Avodart, can't I try this ? As i'm not in propecia and it looks like its a combination therapy.

Btw I'm new to this forum and this is my 2nd post !

ive been doing this for 10 weeks now and im impressed, hair feels in great condition and feels and looks much thicker. only side ive noticed is increased urination.

The increased urination might be the start of prostititis. The prostate becomes sore, tender and when it comes under any pressure from your bladder you feel like you have to pee.

I know about the condition because I developed it on fin and wound up seeing a specialist.

For me it started gently and I ignored it. Then it got bad quite quickly.

I became unable to sleep properly - wanting to pee every 2 hours.

Take it easy

Just took my first pill, taking one per week every Sunday.

Have no idea how this will turn out but it's worth a go I think.
