Regular Member combatinghairloss Posted January 7, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 Hi, I finally made a decision to get a hair transplant done. I have diffuse thinning in the mid frontal area but I believe Finasteride has thicken it up enough for me to not worry about it as much or I can fill it in but I'm a bit afraid of shock lost. My hairline is higher but I'm cool with it. My goal is to thicken and fill in my temples more than anything.I'm looking for a good hair tranplant doctor around or close to the NYC area. I would like to hear about your opinions. Thanks

Senior Member stamos Posted January 7, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 I know that Feller is quite good according to results I have seen, and possibly the best in your area: http://www.fellermedical.com/ Before do anything, make a research at this forum to results posted by patients and clinics, because the distance must not be a factor in deciding the doctor. http://hair-restoration-info.c...s/a/frm/f/2566060861 http://hair-restoration-info.c...s/a/frm/f/3521087683
Regular Member ccexxp1 Posted January 7, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 3 simple words; research; research and research! I did, and found lots of great Dr.'s in the NYC area. My research led me to Dr. Bernstein, who I adore. Again, research this to death!
Senior Member hairthere Posted January 7, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 feller, bernstein, true and dorin are, imo, the only safe bets in new york. from my experience bernstein's approach was far more conservative than feller was so i ultimately decided to go with feller. never consulted with t&d but i have been seeing some decent results from them recently. good luck! Senior Member FacelessMan Posted January 7, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 NYC seems home to several talented surgeons; mine was Dr. Feller in Great Neck, Queens. I've been highly satisfied with both of the procedures he has done for me. Regular Member combatinghairloss Posted January 7, 2009 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 Thanks for your replies. I'll do my research. My main goal is to fill in my temples and frontal area so a Doctor that is too conservative isn't what I'm looking for. Since I'm going to pay a couple of thousand I atleast would like to get what I want. I know that some doctors are conservative because they thinking about ones future hair loss but In my case my hair loss has been stable for 3 to 4 years with FIn and I believe I need around 600 to 1000 graft max. Thanks again.

Senior Member hairthere Posted January 7, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 7, 2009 combat, 600-1000 grafts is actually a fairly conservative number in this day and age. not saying you should get more than that, as i haven't even seen your pictures. but i would think most ht sessions are averaging higher graft counts, especially for strip cases. Regular Member combatinghairloss Posted January 8, 2009 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks Mr.Jobi I'm going to do my research and meet a couple. HairThere, I'm guessing I might need around that amount but who knows I might need more or less, I will find out when I see the doctor of choice.
