Hi,

You should go back to the photos that you posted at the beginning of this thread and see what you started with. Its my opinion that you've had a pretty good result. You still have a little way to go and your hair will mature over the next few months.

Cheers Rod

Hey clayman. Your results look fantastic compared to your pre op pics. I too had a session with Dr. Radha for 3705 grafts and my balding level is similar to yours. I was wondering if you know the average density that she gave you, which she must have told you post op.

Thanks

Clayman....amount of area that was covered with your grafts you wont get very good density pack. What you have so far is very good and I believe you still have another 4-6 months growth to come yet.

It seems as if your existing hair has continued to shed. Your transplanted hair looks good to me. This is where meds play a vital role. What meds have you been taking over the past 12 months?

2,200 FUE + PRP with Dr Bisanga - BHR Clinic, 22-23 August 2013 - http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/171950-my-fue-2-200-prp-dr-bisanga-bhr-clinic.html

Current Regimen:

- Rogaine 5% Foam 2x daily

- Jasons Restorative Biotin Shampoo 2x daily / Nizoral 2% 2x weekly

- Nettle Root 500mg, MSM 1500mg, Biotin 5mg, Multi Vit, Omega 3

I am also losing my hair. Its close to 1 year since my HT. I am not talking any medicine. Should I start finpecia again? But I dont want to do that owing to its side effects. How to control my hair fall?

My hair was denser during 8th month than now (11th month).

Your HT does not look bad actually, if you are losing native hair, it's possible it's a natural progression of hair loss. That being said you didnt have much hair in recipient, so I dont know how much of the loss is native hair...Why did you stop taking finasteride?

Allabouthair - What sides did you get? You should certainly continue if you can. If you can't take fin, only other option is to take experimental treatments like RU etc.

HTs can add only little more coverage, not full head of hair. In my opinion, if you are NW5 or higher and cannot take Fin continuously then think hard before taking the HT route.

Why?

If someone is NW5, it means that most of his hair is already gone.

If he got the money, and good donor density, he could utilize 5.000 grafts and another 2.000 grafts beard hair and with that amount get very good coverage. Of course, that is a lot of money, but i guy have 15.000 euros, then its very achieveable.

I have been taking 2 mg Finpecia every day for last one month now and also putting Kirkland Minoxidil 5% Extra Strength every day and using Ultrax Labs Hair Surge Caffeine Hair Loss shampoo for past one month.

Clayman,

It looks like Dr. Radha has done an excellent job for you. Your hair looks great! The fact that you are taking finpecia and minoxidil will probably help you maintain any existing natural hair that was destined to fall out too.

Thanks for sharing your journey and photos with us :-).

Best wishes,

Bill

Gascoigne,

I assume your question of "why" is in regards to why it's necessary to take medical hair loss treatments when you've already advanced to a stage 5 of hair loss?

In my opinion, preventing further hair loss (even at advanced stages) is an important part of a long term hair restoration treatment plan. While hair transplant surgery can grow hair in completely bald areas, non-surgical treatments may prevent a Norwood 5 in progress from becoming a full blown Norwood 7.

In the before photos, Clayman still has some natural hair on top and "high sides". While nobody can predict how much more hair he'll lose, it's possible that if hair loss progresses naturally without medication, that he might lose the remaining hair on top and the hair on the sides and back of his head may migrate downwards.

Hair loss medication is about minimizing risks, although they can never be eliminated. But those who respond well to medical treatment may save more hair than those who don't.

Best wishes,

Bill
