12 Month update after HT with Dr. Dorin

Now that was a quick year....Can't believe how quickly it all went.

I had a previous 7 month update here for anyone wanting to do a compare:

http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/160983-here-we-go-surgery-w-dr-dorin-2616-grafts-2.html

Impressions:

For 2,616 grafts the coverage is phenomenal and there is a WORLD of difference. Would I do it again?...In a heartbeat. It was a lot of $$ for me but it was well worth it and I am glad I did it when I did.

The only con I have right now is the scar...I used to use a "Number 2" when getting a haircut, but now not even a number 4 hides the scar. Right now I am due for a haircut and you can still see the scar line when my hair is at its "longest" ...Don't get me wrong, its not "Oh my God what happened to your head?" But I did have a colleague ask about it after I was done giving a presentation...Kind of embarassing. In the one picture you can see it.

As far as upkeep, I use Rogain Foam when I remember to use it and I religiously take Proscar. 5MG tablet cut into 4, so efffectively I take 1.25MG/day. Got it through a canadian online pharmacy and it is ~$80/yr. Not bad at all.

Let me know what you think. (Before and after also attached)

Your hair looks good. Bit surprised about the scar though. You have really thick donor and on the face of it would appear to have no worries about it showing through.

Do you have any pics of the hair pulled back to show the actual scar?

Thanks for posting again, mccloud! Even though it's been so long since your last post you had to do a new account LOL! True and Dorin did a wonderful job!! Congrats!

Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily

Avodart 0.5 mg. daily

Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily

5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily

Biotin 1000 mcg daily

Multi Vitamin daily

Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? :D

Hi There

The hair looks very good as does all of True & Dorins work.

Very surprised at the scar though. As you seem to have a lot of hair but the line is still visible. Have you checked with them ?? As this doesnt seem normal to me. Its not terrible by any means.

HT No1 : Nobel clinic, Gatwick 500 grafts - Terrible result, left with bumpy skin

HT No2 : Marwan Saifi 1680 grafts. Great result

HT No3 - Marwan Saifi 1250 grafts. Another good result.

HT No4 - Hakan Doganay 2134 grafts. Result TBA

Total 5134 grafts.

Nice result.

Any plans for a further transplant Mcloud?

2 poor unsatisfactory hair transplants performed in the UK.

Based on vast research and meeting patients, I travelled to see Dr Feller in New York to get repaired.

Thx guys,

I will do a final followup in June and ask about the scar so they can see it in person. I worked with my barber and we found a good way to cut it so the scar is less visable.

As for future plans, I am sure I will keep up on it. After all, I locked myself in somewhat by having the crown done now...I imagine that even though I take propecia and rogain, one day some of that "natural" hair at the top of my head will fall out one day and it would look silly if I dont do something.

For now though the look is solid and the difference is night and day.

I just came across these...We both have more hair after a year :-)

Wow, what a transformation for both of you. Dr. Dorin did a fantastic job on you and your little boy is adorable - with or without hair. :)

I think this is a good result and I wouldn't worry about the scar. The "hat head" scar look is more common than you think. You don't actually see the scar, rather just an indent in the hair itself. Not much of a big deal in my opinion.

Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013

Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020

First of all, fantastic result in the recipient area - congratulations.

I can understand why you're a little disappointed with the scar being visible - your hair looks very dense and thick and a decent length too, yet the scar still shows.

I can relate to this because I feel very insecure with my hair short due to my visible scar - even if it's only an indent, I feel like people will know what it is and that is the last thing I want. For me this is a major problem with your surgery - it would be good if we could get an explanation as to why it happened from the clinic / surgeon.

I guess this is the main disadvantage of strip - even with a top surgeon you may be left with a visible scar. If you plan any future surgery you could potentially have the scar re-closed or you could have some FUE in the scar to try and hide it a bit better?

As per the other request, do you have any pictures of the scar itself so we can get a better idea why it's visible?

Cheers

I will see what I can do...

You nailed my concerns. However with a slightly different hair cut I think it is "better"...Not great, but better...Ill get some new pics.
