Hi guys. Haven't posted before but have been looking at the website for a while now researching HT. This website has been invaluable. It is so reassuring to hear that other men are having the same issues with baldness as I have had for the last ten years.

Anyway, I have decided to take the plunge. Off to Belgium tomorrow for HT with Dr Feriduni. Met with him in February. Found him and the set up to be first class. Very professional.

The doctors advice was 2400 FUE over two days. I am only interested in filling in my crown and not to bothered about some receding..

Feeling a little nervous about the procedure but cannot wait to get this done and see how things progress over the next year.

I will post some pre and post pictures later in the week....

Good afternoon guys

well i am now four days post op. Arrived back in the UK on Friday after having my FUE procedure with Dr Feriduni on Wednesday/Thursdaylast week.

First of all i have to say that the doctor and all of his staff were excellent. I have no complaints and cannot recommend them highly enough.

The whole experience, which while not being enjoyable (unless you like having your head shaved, needles stuck in you and lying in the same position for 6 hours is your idea of fun) was made more than bareable by there caring and professional attitude.

I will not go into to much detail as to the procedure as i have read those before on this forum and so would not be adding to much more.

The facts are though:

  • I had an initial consultation with the doctor at his clinic back in February were we decided on a FUE procedure aiming for between 2200 and 2400 follicles over two days. My only concern was my crown.
  • First day we achieved 2050 follicles - 409 singles, 1641 doubles/triples/quads
  • Day two - 618 follicles 38 singles and 580 doubles/triples/quads.
  • Day three returned to the clinic for a final wash and check from the Dr.

I have attached pre and post op photos so you can see his work.

Four days on it is still a little uncomfortable. Found sleeping alot more problematical and the donor area is a little swollen and irritable.

The recipient area is beginning to scab but really its just a waiting game now. Need to stop looking in the mirror.

Some points/issues that i would mention which was a bit of a surprise:

  • The shaving of the head was the most traumatic thing for me. Thought i would be ok with it but i hate it!!
  • Lying down for the six hours on the first day was very uncomfortable...there were opportunities for comfort breaks etc but really i just wanted it done and so tried to suck it up - not very successfully!
  • There was more pain than i thought. Not ridiculous amounts but could feel the incisions etc. probably my fault for not mentioning it as additional pain relief was available.
  • As mentioned, sleeping was and still is a bit of a nightmare. Hopefully in a day or so the follicles will be well enbedded and i can try and get back to normal.
  • after care is quite intensive. Having FUE i really thought it was going to be a doddle, walk out of the clinic, couple of days to get over it and then able to wear a hat, go out in the sun, exercie etc etc.. Bit more to it than that. my advise, really go through this with your Dr prior to the operation.
  • if you can, try and take somebody with you...especially at night as it is a little more debilitating than expected.

well, i will keep this updated as we go for those that are interested.

let me know if you want any further information/details...

cheers

richard

As usual, Dr. Feriduni's work looks impeccable. He is probably one of the top 5 FUE surgeons in the world. He can get more grafts per day than just about anybody. What technique does he use? A hand punch, ARTAS, motorized tool?

Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily

Avodart 0.5 mg. daily

Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily

5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily

Biotin 1000 mcg daily

Multi Vitamin daily

Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? :D

Looks good work Rharrass.

I am guessing you haven't had much loss in the front?

3-4 months and your hair will be at a good length again.

hi Chris

I do have some hair loss at the front but does not worry me to much. The crown was always the major issue..

I thought it was more than that but looking again there are lots of little scabs in there too making it appear more dense. Still great work though.

I wouldn't expect it be fully grown out in 6 months, especially considering it's the crown. So good luck with the waiting which is the worst part of the whole HT process.

hi guys. Almost two weeks since my HT. Transplanted hair is now starting to fall out - as expected. The recipient area is still a little red but there is no pain. Had my first run since the procedure - made me feel better. Taken to wearing a cap now, really only to keep the sun off of the recipient area. Think now that I am two weeks I can get back to normal with showering etc and so i'll update again in a couple of months or so...
