Dr. Jean Devroye
Thirty -five year old patient, working in a TV channel and so very attentive to the balding zone either on his frontal area or on the higher part of his vertex. He has received 1928 grafts for a total of 4863 hair. A total of 983 grafts have been put on the vertex. For reasons of privacy, only the vertex results will be shown but the results on the front are also wonderful. The density that we has been reached is absolutely sufficient after only one intervention, thanks to the excellent diameter of his hair and to the average density obtained (40-45graft/cm2) according to the zones. A trichophytic suture has been used and the scar is also very nice. Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted June 15, 2018 Administrators Share Posted June 15, 2018 Absolutely incredible work, the vertex is such a difficult part of the scalp to achieve good cosmetic results. In your opinion Dr. Devroye What are the factors? Is it due to the angle and placement of the facts, is it because of poor blood supply in the crown? I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. Dr. Jean Devroye
Melvin, JohnCasper, Thank you for the kind comments. Indeed, it is always very challenging to cover the crown with a maximal density. This, for two main reasons: on the one hand, hairs in this zone follow a spiral pattern (unlike in the frontal area, where hairs go towards the same direction) and this consequently reduces the apparent density (that is the effect given by a certain quantity of hair). On the other hand, the surface to be covered is higher than that of the anterior area. As you say, the angle of the incisions and the grafts placement orientation as well play a key role in getting good cosmetic results. On the contrary, I would not mention a poor blood supply as a general reason why results are often subpar when treating this area. It could be true in some cases but, if a patient presents a poor blood supply, this should theoretically affect the whole of his scalp and not merely the vertex area. Senior Member Sean Posted July 13, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted July 13, 2018 Dr Devroye, This is fantastic work. You used limited grafts to achieve great coverage for the crown. The crown was nearly gone, but you bought it back. Thanks for sharing.
