Patient presented today is that of a gentleman who had naturally poor beard growth along the lower mid bilateral cheeks. This sparse growth had bothered him most of his adult life. After discussing his options and evaluating his donor hair we chose to use a mixture of 1 hair and 2 tightly grouped hair grafts from his scalp. This worked out well because the scalp and beard hairs were a great color match and had reasonably similar shaft diameter. Because his scalp hairs were slightly finer than his beard I chose to mix in some very tightly group two hair grafts to give the illusion of coarse hair.

Presented are his pre op and 3 months post op photos. While quite early in the regrowth phase patient feels many of his grafted hairs never shed and continued to grow allowing for him to be much further along than most patients would be at this point. While you can see a significant improvement over baseline, when he follows up in the next couple of months I will update his post op photos with a set that are not as dark and about 6-9 months post op, when I suspect almost all his grafts will be growing.
