Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted March 13, 2012 Regular Member Posted March 13, 2012 This young man had a previous strip surgery in Mexico a few years ago. He’s a medical technologist here in our area, and met my staff last year at a social function. Interestingly , he came and actually watched Spex’s December case with me and then asked us to do a small FUE case to his front. Shown are his preop and intraop pics, showing a few pluggy grafts placed previously and relatively little growth. His 8 day postop pics show great healing of the donor area, and a terrible scar from his old surgery. I’m confident that we’ll see him for postop checks and I’ll post pictures. Surprisingly he was a terribly hard person to FUE. Despite pretty decent donor hair which was pretty straight, it took all day to get 700 grafts from him. Quite the opposite of what you expect with straight hair and a stark contrast to a 500 graft FUE case we did yesterday on a black guy and were done in just a few hours. A good example of the unpredictable nature of FUE cases. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member chrisdav Posted March 13, 2012 Senior Member Posted March 13, 2012 That is an horrible scar. 2 poor unsatisfactory hair transplants performed in the UK. Based on vast research and meeting patients, I travelled to see Dr Feller in New York to get repaired.
Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted March 14, 2012 Author Regular Member Posted March 14, 2012 I agree. Horrible scar. He said he was told he got 2000 grafts from that little scar and if you actually count the minigrafts where we placed...I bet its 300. You know, I think he won't do anything to his scar as he usually wears his hair a half inch long and its covered well. He only shaved the back to match the FUE harvest zone shaving that we did. Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted April 3, 2012 Author Regular Member Posted April 3, 2012 He's about a month out now. He spoke with my tech Wendy and most of what we put in has shed and his donor area...and indeed the entire back of his head now has hair enough to cover his old scar. We'll see him sometime this spring and I'll update pics. Thanks Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H.
