Regular Member grwelshy Posted January 23, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 23, 2012 Hi I am going to India to have surgery with Dr Madhu in a couple of months.. As times moving on and getting closer. I am getting really scared and regretting not taking anyone with me. (this is awkward for me as my g/f has to stay with my 1 year old) Any body here from UK , europe or USA been to have surgery with Dr Madhu that i could chat with ?? Im not scared 1 bit about surgery. More of the way of life out there , traveling to hyderabad from airports etc. Even if i had all the money in the world i would still want to go with dr madhu as I have done so much research on him his team and his clinic. (not saying there are not better or other surgeons just as good) Basically I am just having all jabs/injections needed in the next couple of weeks. Transfering money every pay day. I am just getting terrified about going to India itself as Its a long way away , and to be honest i get home sick so bad!!
Senior Member Cant decide Posted January 23, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 23, 2012 I have been to India a few times but not for a procedure. You are going to Hyderabad which is one of the nicest cities in India. You will be fine as it is modern and relatively clean. I always found the people to be friendly. The weather in March will be warm but not extremely hot as it is in June. Just make sure you pack allot of food for yourself. I personally love Indian food but every time I went, I would get sick. Since you are going for a procedure and cannot afford to be sick, I suggest that you don’t partake in the local quisine. Again, I love the food but when your stomach is not used to the different strains of bacteria in a foreign country; it’s uncertain how your body will react. Senior Member Cant decide Posted January 23, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 23, 2012 I believe that you are referring to the three wheeled "Put puts" as many call them. I would stay away from them and just use taxi's that are recommended by and come to your hotel. Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted January 23, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 23, 2012 grwelshy, Though I've never been to India, I've traveled to a number of countries in Latin America, SE Asia and Europe both alone and with companions and, in my experience, even the the sketchiest of places that odds of a safe and happy trip are normally in your favor if you simply apply some common sense. I agree with Can't Decide that you should avoid culinary adventures. Play it safe. Drink bottled water. When I travel, I always use a money belt under my clothes with credit cards, passport, extra money, etc. I only keep enough cash in my wallet for the day's use and not more than I'm willing to lose. Even then, I move my wallet to my front pocket. Stuff can happen anywhere. I was pickpocketed on the London Underground as a teen and learned my lesson. The next time someone slipped their hand in my jacket pocket in Italy, she came up empty-handed. Look at your trip as a cultural experience and an adventure. Have fun! Senior Member Shampoo Posted January 23, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 23, 2012 You should be fine, but I second the notion of taking granola bars, chocolate, beef jerky, protein bars, peanuts, ect... You don't want to be dealing with a post-op hair transplant and have stomach problems at the same time. My neice went to India with a church group and some people fell ill pretty quickly from something they ate, one guy fell deathly ill and had to be flown out of the country.
