RandallStephens Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Hi guys, I'm 28 and have been seeing slow but steady hairline recession for about three-four years, and thinning over the last year or two. I began Rogaine about a year ago and didn't see much of an effect. I've now been on 1.25 mg Proscar for five months and saw loss begin to slow about two months ago. I also switched to DS Labs' Spectral DNC solution and Revita Shampoo about six weeks ago, and for a month loss all but stopped. I'd see a couple hairs in my hands when shampooing, and a few when styling, but very few otherwise. However, about two weeks ago I noticed a marked increase in shedding. These hairs look thinner than the ones I was losing previously, and it's gotten to the point where I can visibly see the loss along the hairline and temporal region after only these few weeks. I'm seeing my dermatologist soon to discuss, but I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences with a delayed shed like this? Does it mean the DNC/Revita is actually working and this shed is a positive thing (though the manufacturer says shedding usually only occurs during the first two weeks)? Is this a bad reaction to those products, or due to the switch from Rogaine, or even improper application? A late shed due to the Proscar? Or just coincidental timing? Would love to hear anyone else's thoughts or similar experiences. Thanks all
Want2KeepMYhair Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Hey Randall, It sounds like you're going through the same thing as I am. My regiment is only taking 1mg Propecia per day. When I started taking it I thought the hair loss dramatically decreased just by looking at the shower drain. As of today, Jan. 31, I've been on Propecia for 5 months and 1 week. I did not shed at all (at least I didn't notice) the first four months then all of sudden about 4 months and 1 week mark I started shedding like crazy. Now, I'm in my 4th week of shedding. I'm still taking Propecia.... Hoping that this is a sign that it's actually working..... it's frustrating.... but I'm going to continue taking Propecia and hope for a good result. I found this link while searching the web on this topic. Hope it helps. And please share what your dermatologist said. Thanks for sharing. Shedding Hair and How to Deal with it
