Regular Member Kirkland21 Posted January 7, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 7, 2012 Hello all Well I got some of the NIZORAL product and was wondering how best to use it. Obviously the product is meant by the makers for dandruff and they don't mention anything in the instructions on how best to use it for hair loss. So I was just wondering what might be the best way? Can I or should I use the product every time I shampoo? If not, should I use it a at least as much as I can for the first few months? Should I be leaving it in for some time, or should I just rinse it right out? Thanks for any help.
Regular Member LadyNeedsHair Posted January 7, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 7, 2012 I am sure there are lots of different methods for different people... but I was told use Nizoral 3X per week and leave it on at least 5 minutes to penetrate the scalp properly. (Again, everyone is different and may use it differently or have success by other means.) Hope this helps! My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Cooley

Senior Member HARIRI Posted January 7, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 7, 2012 Twice a week. Never use it more than that, it will damage you hair as it will strip it out from its natural oil and may change its color. Twice a week is Perfect I believe. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted January 7, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 7, 2012 Twice a week for the first few weeks. Maybe even less than that after awhile. Don't expect much for your hair loss from the shampoo - but it does the scalp good. Senior Member Shampoo Posted January 8, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 8, 2012 Kind of surprised today when I tried two pharamacies, a grocery store and a Target.....none of them had any Nizoral. A couple of them had the shelf space for it because I could read the little shelf tag but it was all sold out. Is that typical?..go to 4 places and none of them had it? I suppose I will order on-line. Senior Member Shampoo Posted January 9, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 9, 2012 ok...add another large grocery store to the list of no Nizoral. ordered some on-line this morning. Bill - Seemiller Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 It's my understanding that Nizoral is becoming less and less available. I believe however, Nizoral is still available via our discounted online hair loss product shop. Click here to buy now. To see how to obtain an additional 20% discount, click here. But since the active ingredient ketoconzale is what's highly coveted in Nizoral, you may want to consider purchasing Revita shampoo, which contains the same percentage (1%) of ketoconazole as regular strength Nizoral. It's also much gentler on the hair. Revita is a little more expensive, but you can use it daily and it contains a number of other ingredients that can aid and promote healthy hair growth. Note the difference however, between "promoting healthy hair growth" and "regrowing lost hair" as they're not the same. Best wishes, Bill

Regular Member bald28 Posted January 12, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 12, 2012 Most people on the forum seems to recommend to use Nizoral twice a week and from what i can gather most use Nizoral 1%. Shall you use it only once a week if you were to use Nizoral 2%? Or should you not leave it on your head as long?

For those that use Nizoral 2% do you use twice a week as well?
Knic Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 It's my understanding that Nizoral is becoming less and less available. I thought I heard they started production up again so that it should be becoming more available, I just got some off of drugstore.com a few weeks ago, also it looks like CVS online has it in stock. Both of which don't have the extremely highly inflated prices that we have seen in the last few months, not that they are rock bottom prices either but around $15. So hopefully it becomes more available as time goes on. From my understanding they shut down a plant and moved to a new one and it took time to get everything going.
Regular Member newby1234 Posted January 20, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 20, 2012 Search online for the studies. They were done with the 2% shampoo 2 to 4 times a week.
SRS Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Reply still not clear which one is best to use twice a week nizoral 1% or 2%
Senior Member Shampoo Posted February 3, 2012 Senior Member Posted February 3, 2012 To tell you the truth I am not that pleased with Nizoral or Revita. I realize everyone reacts differently with their own body chemistry. I have tried them both and they seem to really dry out my hair. 2EachHisOwn. Senior Member RCWest Posted March 11, 2012 Senior Member Posted March 11, 2012 I noticed last month at Walmart that they finally got some Nizoral in. It went fast too! I generally use it every 3-4 days. Here is a study stating that Nizoral is as or more effective as Minoxidil 2%. 2% Nizoral Shampoo Increases Hair Growth More than 2% Minoxidil Here is a study showing that 1% Nizoral is more effective than 2%. I kind of believe it, as 1% is pretty harsh and overuse of Nizoral can actually cause you to shed. Hair Loss Help - Live Chat - Experts - Forums - Info - Products Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1?
