Hi all, I am somewhat new to all this, though glad to just have had my HT. To best understand all the options available to manage the after-care in particular on the vitamin side.

Can you please add/challenge the list below:

1. Shampoo that is conducive for hair-growth: Good options: a) Head and shoulder, b) Revita, c) Nizoral When to begin: A week after HT?

2. Prescription Meds: Finasteride When to begin: to continue and never stop

3. Topicals: a) Rogaine, b) anything else?

4. Vitamins: I hear: a) Biotin: Dosage: ? b) B-Complex (to prevent greying): Dosage: ? c) MSM (what does the hell that stands for?), Dosage: ? Any quality but economical brand that has all these in one easy to swallow tab?

5. Any other after-care to make the transplant a success? like going out in the sun (after scar heals), I think sun makes hair healthier with a nice shine?

6. Red Laser: "following the HR procedure", what do you think on that?

Shampoo: Baby shampoo for the first week or so.

Finasteride: This should be started when you first notice hair loss. In fact, it is supposed to help protect against shock loss if you transplant around native hair.

Topicals: Minoxidil can be used after 7-10 days.

Vitamins: Vitamins should be stopped a week before surgery. Most contain Vitamin E, which thins the blood.

The one other thing that is excellent post op is the Graftcyte spray. It is excellent for healing, used the first 3-4 days post op. You are past that point though.

Laser Treatment: BS

Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily

Avodart 0.5 mg. daily

Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily

5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily

Biotin 1000 mcg daily

Multi Vitamin daily

Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? :D

To add

Shampoo: My doctor's post op instructions mentioned to apply anti-dandruff shampoo after 1 month if needed.

Sun: Avoid direct sun light for around 3 months as your scalp is sensitive after ht. Wear cap when out in sun.

I have never done any laser treatment and also I have doubt about benefit of laser treatment. I wouldn't do any sort of laser treatment after HT.
