Steven Gabel, MD, FACS Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) Ken is now 9 months out after transplanting 2569 grafts to the frontal scalp. The before and after photos show how well a transplant can change the appearance of someone. Ken looks younger, he feels younger, and it has had a tremendous positive influence on his life and career. Hair style is also very important; again, his curly hair is a bonus as that adds a layering effect. We have been documenting his progress monthly. Here are his previous links to show the monthly progress of the growth of the transplanted area. Looking at all the previous months that he was posted, the progression is fantastic and life changing. Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted January 1, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 1, 2012 Dr. Gabel, I've been following Ken's progress and I must say that this latest set of pics has just blown me away. What a phenomenal transformation. It's hard to believe that he is only 9 months post-op and will likely see even more improvement before it's all over. Great work! Regular Member KiwiGuy500 Posted January 4, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 4, 2012 Hey Dr, this is amazing work by you. But I think more skill could be observed by the community by you doing this with another hair type. Hair this curly is obviously going to flatter more than less curly hair. No disrespect and excellent journal.
Senior Member Tonycc Posted January 6, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 6, 2012 Wow! Curious if Ken told you before surgery that he had curly hair? From looking at his before pictures we obviously couldn't tell. If he did, did you have to take this into consideration? Really interested to see where he is now. The videos say dreadlocks!
Senior Member ziggy00 Posted January 11, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 11, 2012 Thanks for the post, Doc! Looking forward to the next update.
Senior Member RCWest Posted January 12, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 12, 2012 I just can't get over the before and after! He has high sides which is always a plus, but that is an insane result regardless. Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1?

Senior Member Khali Posted January 15, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 15, 2012 I think his current style is what makes this look so impressive. A haircut might spoil the magic. Now he has hair so a bad hair cut will only be a temporary mess up. Whereas if the balding is noticeable a hair cut will expose it even more.
